Using the slx, I have a seriously stained left hand. Have gloves but they kept leaking and gettig wet so couldn't use them. Haven't seen a pair that look good enough yet!!

the joka polars will solve that problem. I've had mine about 2 weeks and my hands haven't got wet at all
-
Get some coloured electrical tape from B and Q and wrap it around pole that stops it. I did that to one of mine.
-
put heat shrink on the base section this will help too..

How can tape or shrink wrap stop the carbon dust? The base section is the only one that wears hardly at all ::)

I agree, But could I not wrap each section of the Slx and avoid wear.

try reading the first post then and tell me where it says carbon dust ::)

I don't know about the Brodex but with the SLX its not the base section that gives you black hands, it's extending all the others.

Yes, its the same with brodex. Base is fine, its just when you extend.
-
Don't get black hands but I've noticed (and more importantly Mrs K has noticed) that my hands are a bit like sandpaper these days.
Not wanting to sound gay-as-F@#k but what is a good handcream?
-
You need gloves. That pure water is eating your hands.
My thumbs look like tortoise legs withouth them!
-
The pure water is just cleaning your hand like it does a window.Use atrixo hand crean. OR take hand cream any one and put a small spoonfull in your hand and add suger and pub oyur hands as if washing. this will hake off the rough skin, then rince and put on a frest application of hand cream.

I'm 90% trad but do use pure water when the need arises. But you're right the pure water does feel slightly corrosive...or is this just my imagination?

if you find something as been looking for ages, heat shrinkish type stuff, need to do same to my 2 SLX'S
-
emporium poles coverd pole in heat shrink but couldnt find out who was doin it for them or how they got the size they needed, not sure if it would cause problems with sliding poles up n down, would it tear n be a pain in the rear!!!
-
i use a carbon pole that i bought off ebay. it has a micro thin clear plastic covering that is labbelled PRESTON PROTECTOR. either this was fitted when new or perhaps in a fishing tackle shop (its a MAVER pole)
-
you can try these http://www.heatshrink-online.co.uk/ think the size needed is 50.8 for a base section but not 100% sure, i reckon you would only be able to do the base sections but not the others as would be to thick..

i will giv em a call n c what they say, maybe get some samples from em 2 test on poles, cheers
-
This may sound like a bit of a thick question.
Has anyone tried applying a thin layer of varnish on the pole sections?
Matt
