not broke one in 2 years
made 3 replacements this week
the only down side is because they are alloy they get cold to the touch
and after a few months the screw clamps ware so it a cheep option to throw it away and have a new one every 5 months or so
go for it ;D
-
i shall be having a go at one of these but is 5 metres the longest you can go upto?
is 5 metres long enough?
i have houses with windows above conservatories so need 7 metres or maybe more.
cheers does look good

Stopping the cold: Get some lagging from a plumbers supply and force the foam lagging oven the Bentley pole with same detergent on the pole then teach end with a tie wire very tiet. Then tape around the lagging with duck paper. It makes a good cold resistant handle’s. Yes remember to buy the lagging with the biggest hole through and the thinnest foam.

I can reach over most conservatories with mine no problem.
The clamps can be fixed by just wrapping a centimeter wide strip of plastic pop bottle round the claw clamps, and tightning up over it.

right im off to b&q in the morning,i have the hose, spare brush and the addaptor for brush,so all i need in a harris and a bentley brush from tesco, lol
if i like it i might knock a couple more up as spares! ;D
-
cheers tosh m8!
is there any way of making them slightly longer?
cheers
ASDAs, not Tescos, for the Bently brush.
-
i use the harris poles.......i dont use the clamps though...just hold the hose at the base to keep the pole extended. ;)
-
Hi Scrimmy, just a query here thanks. If ya don`t use the clamps
What stops the pole sections from `spinning`around when ya using
The pole? That’s the problem Peter Fogwill has I think with his
Clampless poles. His works on the principle of holding at the bottom
With the hose to keep the sections up,

-
I unscrewed the cone cut it off and put bike quick release seat clamps on the claws works brilliant i think the top clamp was 28 mm and the bottom 34.9mm they only do a couple of sizes
-
that sounds different tosh with the fishing rod m8.
-
Adidixon,it sounds oaky, but it`s the claws of the prong not the
Cone that wears. Not too clear though, any chance of a `pic`?
I wish Scrimmy would reply.
Lewis Doubtfire
-
sorry lewis......response coming now 8)
i dont have a problem with spinning brush.......i did have when i was using peters one sometimes.
i am using thicker hose on the harris...10mm OD.......and i can throw the pole up like wot peters does or if you cant get the hang of that method just pull it out to the desired height and lift.
8)
-
just to add, yep just hole the hose at the base to keep it from coming back down
-
Blimey Scrimmy, get in touch with Peter.Sounds like ya could
Sort his problem out.
Can`t quite get my head around it myself.
I do like my Harris pole myself though.
Any chance of a `pic`?

bike seat clamps
-
Now that is something to think about. What sizes do they
Do them in Adidixon? Is there a web site to look at ?
Thanks for the pics`
If Scrimmy can also oblige, then there will be two different
Ways of using a Harris pole.
Oh, Scrimmy I`m online,do you run your water feed pipe
Inside or outside your Harris? Thanks
Lewis Doubtfire

Just type in seat post clamps or look at halfords i just went to my local bike shop the top one was 28mm i think and the bottom one was the biggest one they do im sure it was 34.9mm it was about 2yrs ago i did it works very well but there are only 3 or 4 sizes they do
-
just had a look at them and yes it is 28.6mm and 34.9mm they were about £5.00 each or something
-

if concerned about a cold pole just buy some heatshrink
comes in lots of colours and makes the pole look good.
website is on a old post from about ayear or so ago
-
you need to use 50mm heatshrink, buy on ebay, its very cheap, smithy recomends this site, also says black shrinks better for some reason

also scrimmy does the skyblue spin
the skyblue does spin....but if you know the technique then YOU can reduce the spin....but if i am totally honest skyblue are ok but you need to constantly replace sections as they stick or lose shards from inside......i would def go down the harris pole route for 1st floor and ground work......it can take a hammering unlike the skyblue. 8)
i am going to stock the secret adaptors also in the next month or so......they will retail at around 5 quid each.....there is a hole in the adaptor for the hose to go through which reduces spin......(i guess if you really wanted to get it spinning you could) but i have never had the harris spin on me....but its all down to effect of that adaptor......all you do is replace the mop head adaptor that comes with the harris with mine.....simply drill out the retaining clip (pull of the old one) wrap a some double sided tape round the top and the new adaptor slides down on top and then feed the hose through the adaptor.....(saves you making holes in your pole)
i am waiting for the 1st consigment of the adaptors then they will be on the shop site along with the poles ;)
-
cheers scrimmy let us know when you get them in ;) in fact just you do the work and i will just buy a pole from you ;D
-
An easy way to extend aharris pole is to use a fibre glass harris pole ( the yellow one at B& Q) to extent. Cut off the alloy top pole and use it for a ground floor pole.
-
how do you mean wizard?
-
so how much are these ples going to cost?

around 35 quid....thats with me doing all the work to them...ie heatshrink them and attach the adaptor to them/drill the hole at the base and the size of hole you require for your hose ie 6mm to 10mm (you supply your own hose btw)
delivery is around 10 quid though.....so i think a total price of around 45 quid delivered.
i could sell the bare pole and the adaptor together and not do anywork to them for around 20 quid + delivery.....no shrinkwrap or double sided tape either....the poles are around 15 quid from B&Q and the adaptors are 5 quid each.
as i am typing the box of adaptors have just arrived......i have bought 20 of them to start with....10 will be going on the 10 poles i am starting with and 10 will be for sale separtely.
i will be putting the poles on the website later tonight as well as the adaptors, if any of you guys want the adaptors before they go on the site then let me know and i will save them for you....i only have 10 available remember...so be quick.
the price for the adaptors are 5 quid each + delivery of 3 quid.
the adaptors need to be drilled to fit your hose ( i will make a punch mark where you need to drill)
-
scrimmy send me an adapter mate. i will paypal you as soon as its on the site mate ;) or if our through my way i can give you cash.
sorry just remembered your on the sick so probably arent driving much :'(
-
will do mate ;)
pm me your addy in Nats forum, i dont think this place does pm's
i do get about ok in the van, but i can only walk 100 yards and i am in agony.....prob be like this for another month or so :'(
but on the plus side i managed to sell my 1st adaptor......thats a fiver then stu ;D
-
plus delivery of course.....my son has moved away from falkirk....he is in bathgate now, so its unlikely i will be up your way in the near future.
-

www.wfpshop.com

i have still to add the pole pic to the site once i modify one of them. ;)
look back in tomorrow :)
-
aye i can see the pic scrimmy. i take it the hole goes through the cone shaped part and the bit at the top is threaded? or am i totally wrong
-
Answer to Jays I used the yellow harris fibre glass pole to extend the alloy harris pole> I cut here the top alloy piece and use the yellow fibre glass section I Found a alloy sections from a curtain rail that went over the yellow glass and over the alloy section and epoxy glue it to the yellow section and the harris pole fits in on top. That adds 2 metres. I then added another yellow section to the bottom of that section again which now give me 30 foot pole. Go and look at the yellow fibre glass pole first and this might make sense.I f you do no u8nder stand ash me to help on forum.

spot on stu....the threaded bit at the top takes the angle adaptor that you will have for your brush.

is the curtain rail in B and Q / what was its name? and is it alloy or steel/ . how do you stop it turning when you are using it>?
i want to buy/make/use about a 9/10 metre pole for trad work ,im using a fishing pole right now that goes to about 10metres ,but i cant go horizontal with it as sure it will snap .
-
,i dont have time to buy diy.
I want one from shop.
cleewindows, only a week or so ago you said you didnt want to DIY it had to be one from a shop, you do realise the harris isnt a window cleaning pole
-
it is now Matt ;D
