I have started having nochex as a payment option from my website,Ideally to try and stop me having to go out collecting,which costs me time and money,one of my rounds is probably a 40 mile round trip,so diesel costs make it unviable to make a special trip to collect.My problem is this,nochex charge 29.9%+20p on every transaction....Thats going into and out of your account into your chosen bank account,now I just recieved payment from a (underpriced) £12 job,its cost me 55p to recieve the payment and 53p to transfer it into my bank account,so that make a £12 job a £10.92 job :( My question is do any of you pass all or some of the extra cost onto the customer? I am seriously considering removing it as an option,I understood it charged for the initial payment,But not for the transfer into my bank

I used to use Nochex a lot about 5 years ago but IMO Paypal is better ( and far more well known) these days, I have Paypal on my website but only 2 customers use it now.
About ten used to pay with Paypal but the others have switched to online banking instead as have quite a few of the custys who used to post me a cheque.

I looked at this option but felt it was too expensive. instead I set up a separate bank account and many customers now pay direct into that, either using online banking or at the counter. Once a week I just transfer into the main biz account. costs for me are nil as I negotiated 2 years free banking out of Barclays. but even when that runs out its still one of the cheapest ways.

i do either cash on completion, collection, SAE and stamped envelope and also on line banking. personally i dont think you can really justify passing the charges onto your customers as its you who chose the method of payment and not them. ;)

I been using Nochex for a couple of years.
Ive got quite a few of my cheque custies over to it. It costs about the same as an envelope, stamp etc, and the cost of clearing the cheque.
Also, very handy when you have a bad payer who says "ive no cheques left"!!!
Just an extra tool to getting the money in!!!

I think I will remove it as an option,Or specify that bank transfer is my preferred option,It costs nothing to pay into my account anyway,as its a personal account
