Title: Back up your Data
Post by: Jack Wallace on February 14, 2010, 11:52:18 am
Following on from another thread I thought it would be useful to see how we all protect our business data.
If you don’t back up your PC and it crashed what would you do? Could you work?

Some people back up to another hard drive or pc but what would you do if your house had a fire or someone broke in and stole everything?
Would you be able to remember your round and who owes what?
Personally I use this  https://www.dropbox.com/
It places a folder into "my documents" so every time you place anything into that folder on your pc or make any changes to files within it automatically backs it up to Dropbox.
If you keep all your work stuff in that folder you don’t have to do anything as its being backed up constantly ,
I also use George, so a couple of times a week I back that up to my documents also and it goes straight to the Dropbox server which you can access from any pc anywhere.
If the worst happened I could be up and running the very next day. (Providing the scrotes didn’t nick my van to take away all my gear)  ;D

I am nearly ready to start, & I have 2 memory sticks to back up info daily. I just have to be careful & remember that items deleted from memory sticks don`t go into the recycle bin.  :o

Hi Lee,

This part the reason why I have decided on manually using Microsoft office, instead of round tracking software.

I doubt that! why would the inland revenue bother? Anyway even if it was I have nothing to hide.

I use WCP and back up to memory stick or CD when Matt remembers! WCP do a internet backup for £1 a month, I'm tempted to subscribe! that way I know that whatever happens to the PC I'll have our customer's details! Well worth £1 a month  :)
