Title: dont mind the odd dog bite!!
Post by: David Kent @ KentKleen on February 11, 2010, 07:17:56 pm
This is for any one just starting (like myself) and trying to build a round up.
I was out leafleting yesterday delivered about 100 then a silent but deadly dog behind the letter box had a chew on one of me fingers :'(, the owners where out so have not had chance to complain >:( Cleaned me finger up and had a cuppa to calm my self down abit and got back to it, delivering (nervously) another 400.
HAPPY as a pig in sh.. today tho, got over £80 worth of work and the calls are still comin in ;D

So it just shows even if ya out doing a bit of leafleting/canvassing and things seem bad, just keep on  doing it, it will come good in the end!!
p.s give the letterbox a good rattle be for putting ya fingers through. :o

A lady I know got badly bitten like this and you have no leg to stand on legally as your finger is in the property. So carry a ruler, push the leaflet through with that and if a dog snaps at it then ram it down it's throat!  ;D

I think the post office can insist they have a letter cage or external post box or refuse to deliver - not sure really.

I nearly had my fingers taken off tuesday whilst out leaflet dropping. Luckly i had them out quick enough dog was a hughe great dane not a very nice one by the sounds of it . Usely the nutter dogs leap at the door when you just lift the letter box flap. But this grafty sod waited till i had my hand in there....

Its a buzz getting the jobs you really feel your getting somewhere then you do a few days of first cleans and you ache like a b***h ..... Then when you get to the second cleans you feel even better. First cleans are hard work . Good luck fella

Sorry to contradict but if a dog bites you at the letter box even if your hand is inside the owner is liable as they need to put up a warning sign. I worked it Winchester as an Estate Agent and a college got bit on the hand. No warning and she got damages from the owner as well as pain and suffering.

Never been bitten like that myself.

I was out cleaning once and a young lad was delivering some leaflets for his dad (sparky). He had a wooden kitchen spoonthat he pushed the leaflets through with, worked quite well.
