Title: Old Signage - Shop Front Windows
Post by: amayze on February 10, 2010, 09:52:07 am
Guys,

Could do with your expertise here. I've just had the owner of a new flower shop telephone me & asked me to quote for cleaning her windows. The problem is that when the windows steam up slightly, the remains of the old vinyl letter appears on the window.

How can I remove them ?

try white spirit or paint stripper put on a cloth and wipe the windows down first then clean like normal use a mask when doing so as paint stripper will make you feel sick hope that helps

white spirit works sometimes never tried paint stripper. as its a florist i guess they get a lot of condensation which is why it shows up so much. years ago i saw a picture of a florists window that when misted showed "licenced sex shop"

Rub hard and I mean hard with a microfibre it should be enough to burn off any marks

Okay guys, a quick update.

Been over & seen the shop window. The custy breathed on some glass and the lettering appeared. There is no glue residue, but did try a spot of white spirit & microfibre cloth, no luck. When you breath on the window the lettering reappears !!
