I took delivery of one at the end of last week. I have only used it a couple of times as I have been using my TM most of the time.

My initial feelings are that it is without question the best portable machine I have ever used. Only time will tell whether I will maintain this view. I have been using 3 vac portables for many years and this one feels like the finished product. Matt has done a great job in producing a fine machine.

hello folks

just looking at this machine, do any of you use it as truckmounted, ie leave it in the van?
and if so will say a 200/250 litre freshwater tank do the job?

Shaun,

I usually change portables every 2 years so the Ninja is in retirement in the garage. In its defence it never went wrong once in 2 years  even with my adventurous modification to the vac system. I thought the Airflex was the best available at the moment and I don't think I am going to be wrong. I will be over the moon if it is half as reliable as the Ninja was.

Stuart

I don't want to start an Airflex v Scorpion debate. I have had 2 Scorpions and I was happy enough with them at the time - if I thought they were still the best option I would have bought another. They are quite different machines each with their own strengths. The major strength of the Scorpion is its lightness and manouverability. In all other respects the I prefer the Airflex which is itself surprisingly easy to manouvre for  such a large machine. I may be wrong but haven't Safeclean jumped from Scorpion to Airflex recently?

JasonL

Thank you :)

Hi Len,

Yes I had the first Recoil in the UK. It was indeed me who introduced John Bolton to it. In my opinion John made the best improvements to the machine after he and Nick took it on.

Will bring the Airflex to Sidcup when I come to pick up my royalties ;D

I wondered what it was like, a friend of mine has just bought one and is raving about the heat, now he's upgraded from a far smaller machine but he said that the carpets are virtually dry when he leaves and he steams the room up when cleaning, all this with a v2 400psi but twin vac.

Was it a pain sometimes with 3 plugs?

Shaun

Post by: Nigel_W on February 09, 2010, 08:22:39 pm
I have never had a major problem with 3 plugs.

The V2 internal and external 3 kw heaters are very impressive. I also have the external high pressure V2 steamate which I will use with the Airflex as necessary.

IMO the heat is the special bit about the ninja, the airflex I think is the best porti out there because thought has gone into it, the build looks fantastic I had a hold of one at the CCDO I did like the Alltec machine but the Airflex looked easier to maintain and also easier to lift.

What did you get with it and (the personal bit) how much?

Shaun,

Stop asking questions I am trying to do my invoicing ;D

I got nothing with it as I didn't need wands, hoses etc. I think you will find the price is on the web site. There was a deal on for January which I think was £2650 plus VAT for the full package with wands and hoses?

No idea - but heavy

300 - 400 psi for carpet
200 psi for upholstery

Looks like it might get interesting this year for South Yorkshire bragging rights in the Championship. 8) We are behind you ;D

Hopefully we understand what our customer or buyer wants and that's why we are successful at what we do.

Is the airflex a quite machine like the prochem ?
Title: Re: Airflex Turbo
Post by: richie on February 12, 2010, 03:41:44 pm
Ive never heard a Airflex Turbo in action however, i have heard & used the Scorpion.  Very loud, but this is to be expected when you have 3 vac motors running at same time.  The water pump is louder than i would have expected.  I see on the website that you can purchase 4inch hose i think it is that will carry away the moisture from the machine plus will help with the sound.

The Airflex is pretty loud. Not hugely loud, its bareable.

My old Steampro was alot quiter. But you can get a silancer for it and also the  exhaust "might" make it quiter too.

Having said that, its a cracking machine!

thanks steve, unsure what to buy, I was told on the course that the best porty for a starter should only be capable of 100ish psi, not convinced though, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Title: Re: Airflex Turbo
Post by: Steve Barnett (Carpet Care Plus) on February 12, 2010, 09:08:46 pm
You want a minimum of 135psi and twin vac - but to put that into perspective I am upgrading a 400psi and twin vac to a 600psi and triple vac, thats how much things have changed.

I don't know your situation, but if you are a new starter I would advise you to get a good, second hand machine off e-bay or the buy and sell sections on the various forums. Then build your business up and then upgrade.

Other people might say steam in and buy a brand new 2 grand plus machine, but if it doesn't work out you've then got to sell it, usually at a loss.

Then again, one of the guys on here started from scratch with a £10,000 plus truckmount and made a success of it - it all depends what sort of a guy you are and what your drive and ambition is, hope this helps.

Yes Shaun, went for the triple vac 600 psi, plus heater, plus exhaust pac, wand and glide.

Had the Ninja 2 years now and it's time to upgrade everything, wand, hoses, agitator - the lot.

Steve

PS: possibly selling the Ninja if your interested  ;)

I will be looking at these at the show what concerns me is when things are new on the market there problems start to happen some time down the line :-\ I am
concerned about the 3 vacs power on the case body for example many years ago the ninjas case pulled in and out so much they now fit a bar across the tank :-\ to stop this and make more stronger.Airflex is a lot of money for somthing without heat :-\ I will be looking at at :-\
Title: Re: Airflex Turbo
Post by: Simon@arenaclean on March 11, 2010, 07:45:52 am
With tripple vac machines there is a sacrifice because of the cables. For 3 vacs and the pump you need two cables and an onboard heater adds a 3rd. The Alltec has a heater (with two cables) but one of the vacs needs to be turned off for it to work. When I was debating which machine to buy it was kindly pointed out that an on board heater at 100ft is pretty useless and whilst on you can only run 2 vacs. I've been waiting for the inline heater from Matt, but to be honest I haven't missed it. The case is fine and guaranteed. It does not flex. Give Matt a ring go over and try the machines, same with Alltec and Solutions. You might even prefer a powerflite perfect heat. Twin Vac 500psi + heat. I've had my Airlex since November, no faults, Alltec's built quality is legendary and the Scorpion track record speaks for itself and that's why your paying +£2500 + vat. There are cheaper versions of the Alltec and Airflex Twin vac 200psi pump what about these? You will change a machine once every 3 - 5 years and over 3 years that's an investment of £2.30 a day on your original purchase. Buttons mate.

Ive never seen the point running a porty from a van it would never come close to a truckmount id rather just leave the machine outside front door why do the 3 vac portys not have a third plug on them so they can have built in heat.

I ran a  3 vac scorpion from my van b4 i got TM, lots of advantages,
no lugging machine out of van 3-4 times a day, no re loading van 3-4 times a day
i had a Bane waste and freshwater tank, no filling, no emptying, except 5 min when
you get home.
Inline heater just inide front door.
Machine stays newer, with no scratches, bumps, wires rattling loose.

Used average of 50-75' of 2" vac hose, lots of power.

Ken W still uses his successfully, (see van pics thread)

On the downside i had to place ramp over hose  ;D

i have used a porty before having to leave it outside the door when i got an airflex i ran it from the van when the weather is not so great its a lot better. and speeds up setting up and packing up.

Darren, its a progressive step up the ladder.
single vac to twin
twin to tripple
tripple vac to TM.
All tax deductable, rather have something shiney and new than pay excessive income tax, to keep illegal immigrants in driving licenses etc  ;)

What machines have you had Darren ?

Andrew started of with a Powermax then bought a Hydramaster Raptor but had a lot of problems with the pump on it now have a Powerflight 1350 was thinking of running a 3 vac porty froma van but think i would rather save up and buy a Prowler.

Good choice Darren, nothing wrong with missing out on a step up ladder.

I had a single vac then twin vac Alltech, then cfr perfect heat, scorpion, then had chance of the bane tanks so ran it for 6 month then got TM last sept.

Now thinking of upgrading my Steamway sidekick,
