Title: Is this handtool anygood??
Post by: Carpet Dawg on February 08, 2010, 06:21:02 pm
Hey guys

In the market for a new uhpolstery handtool. At the moment i am using Prochems easy grip handtool (been using that for the last 10 years!) but its been bugging me, twists about and i think it oversprays too.

Seen this enclosed jetspray one at Restoremate:

http://www.restormate.co.uk/epages/15094.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/15094/Products/HT-0017a

any good? is it easy enough to manhoover about with? is it clunky? does the enclosed sprayer really make a differenance in the drying times?

thanks
tony

See if they'll let you try before you buy? I tried a couple out from Solutions and found the perfect one for me. You can but only ask :)

That looks like a nice handtool tony. if the centre bar was raised a bit it would be a CFR but better, as the cfr is ridiculously long and a wrist wrecker.

its crap for upholstery but its only £80 so what do you expect, on a flat cushion it would be OK but on any curves it would still spray everywhere.

its nothing Like a CFR, the jet is aimed at 90degrees to the fabric  (directly into it) the CFR aims across the fabric

The best hand / upholstery tools i have ever used are;

Prochem Truckmount upholstery tool (look at the link below, its the 4th tool on that page)
http://www.cleansmartsupplies.co.uk/acatalog/Carpet_and_Upholstery_Hand_Tools.html

Kleenrite upholstery tool
http://www.carpet-cleaning-equipment.co.uk/product_details_3.htm
or
http://www.kleenritemfg.com/products/upholstery/index.html

The one below is not to bad but can leave you with alot of over-spray
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PROCHEM-EASYGRIP-HAND-TOOL-UPHOLSTERY-CLEANING-PM2502_W0QQitemZ130362821576QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_3?hash=item1e5a3acbc8
The one below is internal jet and i found that you dont get a very good flow across the width of the tool even when used with a portable.

Cheap tools rarely give good quality & you will be unimpressed with the results you get from them.
