Doing some research for a friend with a cleaning company.
Do you need any specific certification in order to carry out this kind of work?

Hi
in the UK, no not at the moment but he/you would be crazy to undertake this kind of work without it.
But the Trauma/Crime scene market is now flooded with companies doing it, one training venue is booked up until May and there simply isn't the work to go around, I trained 18 months ago and despite loads of advertising I have not done one yet. I almost had my first blood job this week but as usual nobody wants to pay the cost of cleaning the stuff up and I am certainly not risking my life for peanuts.
There is a lot to consider especially H&S, Blood Bourne pathogens, OPIM's, removal and disposal of sharps, blood and OPIM's, Hep B, C, Aids, HIV (For Hep C there is no cure)chemicals and procedures for disposing of infected material.

Thanks for the detailed response Martin.
Its an existing commercial cleaner looking to add some more arms to their business.
Doesn't sound too positive!

There have been threads on this before. The general view is there is no work to be had. It appears that the only people making any money out of it are the people selling the courses.
