Title: End of tennancy cleaning
Post by: The Oven Cleaner on June 28, 2005, 01:12:10 pm
Hi all

I am being asked to carry out end of tennancy cleans to student and asylum seeker properties, i currently clean ovens and cooker hoods for the two companies involved. As i have already been "approved" they are giving me the opportunity to take the jobs on.

The student let agency are currently paying £350 for a 6 bed house(3 floors) with carpets and oven cleaning extra. I will initially do the work myself, if this is acheivable :-\.

Any advice on equipment, what to charge, and general do's and dont's would be appreciated :).

the first student let i did was a 3 bed semi 2 reception rooms and kitchen and bathroom
we didnt clean  the carpets but did everything else and although first impressions we thought it was quite clean , once we started we realised how dirty it was
the first day it took 2 cleaners 4 hours the next it took 3 of us 3 hours........so a total of 17 hours was spent on the property and we charged £200    which had we known better it would have been more    and we would have got it cos it comes out of the bond   and its damn hard work

Hi Anne

Thanks for your reply, i have not yet quoted but aim to quote per property and not per hour. That said i would expect to acheive around £12.50 per hour to make it worth doing. I am expecting to get the dirtiest properties first but am willing to work hard.

Any tips on what i should carry as a basic kit for this type of property? I already carry a steam cleaner and various degreasers which i use for oven cleaning.

Thanks again

Andrew

i did a 6 bedroom house same as anne you dont realise how dirty they are took 2 of us 8 hours then went back with my wife for a further 2 hourds all in all ... for £265 i got 200 the bloke who worked for me got 60 not too bad but hard work try and clear around 18-20 per hour .. remember cleaning agents and detergents cost a bit too

yeah like shawn says cleaning detergants ect cost money and i'd say we used a full weeks supply on that one property
and i would definatley aim for more than £12.50 per hour as like i said it is hard work   especially if you have to go back the next day too.............the travelling takes up time and money
i never quote per hour either it is always per property..nothing worse than cleaning a "clean" house (some people do actually tidy up before you get there) and been tied to 3 hours when you can do it in 2

I will certainly try and aim for £20 ph, i already achieve this figure with oven cleaning so it makes sense (I thought i would struggle to get the work at that price being in deepest south west wales, oven cleaning is seen as a luxury so people pay :)).

When i visit to clean a domestic oven i often find that my client has spent time "making it look tidier" before i get there. I didnt think they would clean the house before you would arrive :o.

Thank you for your help, lets hope i get the work.
