Title: Collecting Money ?
Post by: ringo1968 on February 06, 2010, 09:39:29 am
I was wondering if you guys had a set evening for collecting money owed, seeing as there is a good chance of custys not being around during the day ? Or do you make other arrangements ? Cheers.

I can't understand why people want to drive around collecting money, just leave a slip with your address/bank details on and they will send it to you or transfer into your bank account, there's more to life than collecting ;D

i go once a week usually on a monday night after 6 for 2 hours tops.a lot pay when i clean, some send cheques.alot of my work very compact and all work within a 8 mile radius. ;D ;D

i dont have a problem with collecting and find i get more work, keep good custy relations and can resolve any little issues that arise from time to time.im usually owed around £150-£200 at any one time but thats ok with me.im not usually desperate for it! ;D ;D

no bank charges and better custy relations IMO.im in the north west and i think people are more friendly and down to earth than some parts of the south and the face to face contact is very important on domestics if you want to have a good solid round with loyal custys! ;)

regards

never - if they in cash or chq - if out ,leave sae with invoice with 7 day terms , never had a problem , you get the odd ones that forget but they just get doulbled up on next invoice - if they still dont pay after 2 hits they get put on STOP till they do.
abbey/santender gives free banking so no cost's anyway.

i buy 100 second class stamps @ £30 and box of1000 self sticky envolopes from staples ( cheap about £15 ) so works out cheaper than going round using my time and fuel etc

I spend  half hour to an hour phoning my customers the night before i clean(in the warm with a beer) :).This is a good selling point when signing new customers up,i sell the fact we dont turn up unaanounced and the courteusy call, which people like and i make arrangements with all cvustomers to leave money in pre arranged place if out.

I get 98% of my money on the day .You get the occasional customer who forgets or wont conform but thses ones always send cheque cause i put a silp thru the door.Tried all other ways over the years and this works best for me.

When i started years ago i hated collecting, but then after a stint of sae i realised that i provide a service that is aimed at providing a full service to the customer and this to me involves talking, meeting and generally getting to know my customers.
How can this be done by sae/bank transfers for domestic customers?I get extra work due to meeting my customers...ok i am not running a massive business,in which case i would then understand the need to refine payments, but collecting is an important part of the services i provide,it's that personal element that keeps me in touch with my business.

the only issue with this , is that it gives them a chance to say "not today".

good points , i do a mix of collecting, and the ones who i can never catch in send cheques,

i dont mind collecting , and usually pick up lots of extra work by doing so , it is important for customers to be able to put a face to the name, so to speak.

I think collecting is very important when you are running business. The fact that technologies are developing very fast doesn't mean that people do not have a need for personal attitude. Companies look almost the same if you do not know them
