i have found a company who have offered to sell me a steempro powerflo/max
for a 20% discount off the price from the prochem brochure............is this a scam?? or do other companys offer a discount??
i guess you pay vat on all machines/equipment/chemicals..........
so if it isnt a scam i would then get a 2.5% discount on book price???
-
most distributers will offer about 20% discount
if anyone knows of any better let us all know.
-
dont forget the prochem book price is also plus vat! so 20% is worth having

A lot of the dealers who stock Prochem products offer a discount on the Prochem catalogue.
Makes you wonder what Prochem could sell their products at :o
-
Ashbys are selling there Ninja for £1800 + VAT. 2x3 stage vacs, 400psi pump and element heater. No tools or wand in that price.
A better machine IMO.

PROCHEM TR300 FIVESTAR UPRIGHT COMPACT EXTRACTOR. + 1 DAY FREE TRAINING COURSE VIA PROCHEM FOR USE OF MACHINE AND CHEMICALS. FREE DELIVERY TO MOST PARTS OF THE UK £781.83 + VAT
dont want to put it on here as very good price. found that sometimes you better keeping mouth shut,
as some suppliers will not be happy at someone discounting product. and try putting a stop on it.
this is why suppliers have trade price lists in all trades.
prochem no different, say you bought machine of prochem
£1800 +vat if they sold one to joe bloggs is local supplier
could not argue as he would have done him better deal.
have been selling carpets for 15 years my family 40
and the prices i get now are siily. if approched by any rep,
be it advertising or powder, just say no, never say price you are getting or worse show invoice to proof it,
or you my have just lost the deal you was getting.
hope me ranting helps
thanks darren

INTERESTING
You all rave on about NOT competing with low price carpet cleaners, YET HERE YOU ARE.
LOOKING FOR THE CHEEPEST PRICE for your own purchases.
In other words.......behaving like the majority of consumers, who use our services !
What does that say about you? Are you suggesting that your prospects should'nt " do as you do "and NOT buy your service on price.
This little discussion has been very revealing about buying habits and realism !
Why should your prospective clients behave differently from you ?
Nuff said

I think the difference is that with equipment you are comparing like from like(being the same manufacturer)(as long as the after sales are equal!)but with cleaning you are not, would you say that someone who will clean a suite in 45 minutes with a machine that cost a couple of hundred pounds and no training will do as good a job as someone who has invested thousands of pounds in quality equipment and training, and maybe takes about 4 hours or more? As with all things in life you get what you pay for.

Hi Guys,
I've always found this argument comparing the lowest priced distributor with the lowest priced cleaner a bit spurious
The distributor is supplying the same product which is then serviced from the Supplier so price is a direct comparison.
The CC is supplying a range of products,i.e good carpet cleaning , bad carpet cleaning etc so the products are different and price comparisons much less valid.
It is important to buy well.
There are however other considerations and as I have previously mentioned , I get significant referrals from both my printer and chemical distributor , so loyalty does pay and if I pay slightly more , I gain much more than this with my referrals.
Cheers,
Doug

If you get no joy elsewhere and you are serious about buying one, send me an e-mail.

Totally agree with you Doug but in this instance thought I would keep my Gob Shut !!
Everybody has got to make a living and REMEMBER suppiliers have higher overheads than us.
-
wow i opened a can of worms ;)
point taken doug
but if you are just about to start out wouldnt you compare prices with suppliers
to get the best deal for your bugdet??
p.s thanx for the link darren!! :)

Understand what you're saying Spindle, but , by striking up a good relationship with your local suppliers, you will gain much over time.
This was really my point.
Your prospects, will often see no further, than the price you quote, and don't see you, as any different, from the expensive guy, or the cheep guy
The arguments about costing, will never go away
If I want to buy a Prochem product, I will go to the local dealer.
The only reason I would go elsewhere, would be poor service, not to save a few pounds.
This is not blind loyalty...........it's an investment.........the local supplier is where I wll go for servicing / repairs / maybe even help.
Maybe that makes me a mug, or soft, but I will get their respect and attention, when I need it.
good luck

i have taken onboard what you are saying................but if it was only for a few pounds i wouldnt bother........but we are talking about a few hundred pounds difference between buying from supplierA orB :o
i can see the need for a good working relationship with a regular supplier, of course that makes perfect buisness sense. :)

One of my local Jan suppliers passes me work and I’m not a big spender with him, probably equates to £20 to £30 quarterly, but will promote his company if some one wants something that he stocks or is an agent for that product
I’ve even cleaned his carpets at the going rate. :(

What you have got to remember is the back up service offered, it ok getting a good deal from a supplier at one end of the country but what happens if the machine breaks down within the first year of warranty, that’s why distributors have to retain some margin to do this work.
