Changed my mini bore hose over to micro bore today and my flow rate has been pants since!
When I was using minibore the flow rate was fine at about 40.
I use a pure freedom flow master controller and had it set at 99 for most of the day(just about had a steady stream), have checked the instructions tonight and seems I can only adjust the dead end sensitivity!
Can anyone throw any light on this for me and help me out ???
Thanks Guys.

you have gone from 8mm to using 6mm ?
-
my presure is max also i think its better that way
-

yeh, everything worked fine on 8mm, thought using 6mm would have had the opposite effect and been more powerful?
-
this is just what I was asking a couple of days ago.
I need to replace my 60 meters of 6mm as its knackered , was going to go for 6mm again but at 100 meters, what length of hose are you using TC1 ? and also what pump ?
-
I'm using 100m of 6mm and a 100 psi sure-flow. I cant figure it out as the 100 m of 8 mm worked fine ???
My brother uses 100m of 6mm and his works fine!

I used 6mm when a 8mm hose went down, I hated it, way to slow on the water at brusgh head, at this time of year it would freeze a lot quicker, yes a little heavey then 6mm but the benifits outweight the disadvantages by a long way.
I have some 6mm hose if someone wants to buy it about 300 mtrs worth maybe more
-
I'll have 100m for sale if I can't sort it out!! Will hold fire on the sale of the 8mm stuff! ???
-
same pump as me then, all works fine for me with 60 meters although never used 8mm so maybe my flow is reduced in comparison, I do have an eco flow controller but its usually on full most of the time
somone did expain a few days ago (wally I think) the physics behind using a smaller bore will not create more pressure but reduce flow rate, something to do with creating "back pressure"
has now got me thinking that I maybe better off using 8mm at 100 meters, then I can use my pump controller more to adjust flow. I had been in two minds as to what to buy because I need to conserve water and make it last as long as I can, not because of the size of my tank (650) but because of parking issues and refilling at home.
-
sorry I've hijacked the thread a little TC1, but do people think I'll be using much more water with 8 instead of 6 mm, or will I just have more adjustability on my pump contoller ? mabe a sily question but I really need to know before I go buying new stuff.
Thanks
Simon

You'll have far more flow controll with 8mm hose, the pump will run slower thus reduce power consumption too. win/win. ;)

cheers, my minds made up then :D

Sure I can't tempt you with a cheap reel of 100m 6mm Simon??? Only used once!! ;D :'(

Was trying to sort the problem outt his morning and reallised that I had put my step ladders on top of my IBC tank and trapped the hose which goes to the pump and thats why my flow rate was pants, just a coincidence that I changed my hose and moved my steps!! What a plonker!!!! :-[

Ha ha lol ::) :D
ya dont want to get rid of the 6mm then ? ;D
how is the flow now in comparison to 8 ? I hav'nt ordered my minibore yet

The flow seems to be the same, but it is so much lighter and doesen't get caught up on things as much and easier to pull around things!

I really am confused now, you really had almost convinced me to go for 8mm :-\ ;D

LOL. That's got to be a classic.
Nearly as good as mine quite a couple of years back. Couldn't get any water from the end of the hose. Went around checking just about everything before realising that I hadn't connected up the reel to the van mount.

I was really torn between which one but decided 6mm, and although I can not comment on 8, my hose is very easy to dragg about, flow rate has always been fine for me (although have nothing to compair too) (ecoflo/flomaster on 40/55)
and can imagine the 8mm to be alot heavier when full.

My experience may help to throw a little light:
My first system was an Omnipole 50lt trolley with a 60psi Flojet (four years ago) I upgraded to a Ducato with a 400lt tank, 100psi Surflo and controller. Then I sold the van to one of my franchisees and bought a Courier and fitted a Gardener 300lt 'D' tank as I don't do as much window cleaning as I used to.
I fitted the 60psi Flojet from the trolley into the van, and run it with a simple by-pass to reduce flow/pressure if I need to (though I usually run it flat out!!)
I have 100m of 6mm microbore.
I get excellent flow and pressure with this set-up, so I can say that the microbore has no real diminishing effect, even though my pump is old, only 60psi and it has to push the water through 100m of hose, various fittings and up to the top of my pole. I use a 35ft Hybrid for 3/4 floor jobs, and I get just as good flow/pressure at the top of that as I do on my little 4ft ground floor jobby.
