Post by: JSMC on February 03, 2010, 02:10:02 pm
getting well fed up babysitting my system. i have oil filled radiator, aquarium heater and pipe slaged yet it still freezes up. been out with basins of hot water diping hose in it and  storing hosereel in house and taking off pump connectors to pull out bits of ice etc.

spend more time these days not working than i do working.

Whatever size van you have, you can't go wrong with a truck heater. Whack up the thermostat and it will be like a sauna in the morning. Ok they are expensive, but in the long run it will pay for itself and the best bit? It will use less than 1 litre of diesel overnight!

Its not the system its the weather, and considering your in Scotland where the weather has been minus degrees the science is water freezes at these temps so its not the systems fault  ;D

mate i managed to keep mine frost free but 7am this morning started a commercial and the glass froze straight away, stuck the pole against my roofrack while i reeled in and reached for the pole to find the brush had frozen to the roofrack, so waited till 8.30 to get in for the internal glass and eventually got working on the outsides at 10.30 even then i could only do the high stuff as ground floor was freezing all the paths up, at least on the first floor the water turned to ice before it could become an ice hazard. trad wasnt any better by though, it was freezing to the glass as well

Got to laugh at the people who say WFP has doubled there income they must of been absolutely useless with a squeegee.

I was trad for 11 years mate, I worked perfectly adequately off a ladder and most who worked with me said they couldnt keep up, but it's also fair to say that changing over to WFP for me enthused me and gave me a new lease of life. Perhaps its also a reflection of someones ability to adapt to a different manner of cleaning windows.

So I wasn't absolutely useless, I take it you just want to try to get a dig in, I have quite simply adapted to WFP in a far better manner to others, thats a reflection perhaps of their inabilities and not mine.

I see figures quoted on here of how WFP has increased peeps income by 30%-50%, your doing something dreadfully wrong if thats all its given you.

totally agree . anybody who is wfp and is moaning about frozen gear or earnings not going up your doing something wrong . its not hard to look after gear you should consider going back to trad as you are giving wfp a bad name with petty moans 8)

Then again if you dont make much in the first place its not hard to double it.

That is a very true statement.

But it doesnt mean that is the case here, re-read my earlier post about that and then you'll see that it doesn't apply in this case.

What does it matter which is better than the other, as long as you are happy the way you do it.

just wondered, when switching from trad to wfp have your prices been increased or are they pretty much the same?

Because of all the varients in circumstances inc' location, type of work, personal etc. etc. WFP will have a different affect for everyone. So to make statements like the ones above is very short sighted & quite silly IMO.

Because of all these differing circumstances WFP will benefit some 100%, some 90%, some 80%, some 70%, some 60%, some 50%, some 40%............etc. etc.

It certainly WILL NOT have the same impact for everyone, even when they are doing it right. That's just the nature of it really.

Safety? can't be argued with. The rest is all debatable! ;)

Oh, 6 years WFP here too. :D
