Title: pump controller problem
Post by: Mist A Bit on February 01, 2010, 09:03:55 pm
i have a varistream with a 100psi shuflo van mounted. i`ve notived over the last few days that when i turn off my flow valve the pump is not cutting out and carried on today untill the hose conected to the pump burst. is this a common fault and does anyone know a reason why this is happening. it`s quite a new pump and controller as i`ve only set the system up a little over two weeks ago. any help would be great

thanks steve

This might be due to the pressure switch or is it a digital controller.

Mine did that once - turned out it was the battery about to give up.

its digital, doesn`t have the pressure swith as the controller bypasses it

The pressure switch should be disconnected anyway.
The digital Varistream sometimes loses it's settings, you need to reajust it, select a lower cut off point, try the letter B.

Apparently the sensor can play up a bit on a nearly dead battery and so doesn't tell the pump to stop. Jeff1 is the man to talk to. Try Dai's solution first - it's the cheapest  ;)

just letting you know i`ve sorted the problem, the battery was in need of a charge (the low batt indicator never told me) and the controller is now shutting the pump down, i`ve also lowered the shut off settings to be on the safe side.

thanks for your help
