Title: Ford Connect rusting

Any one that has a Ford connect.Do they also have the rust problems as the transet under arches etc.Can anyone help.

I have not seen any rust on transit connects, incl my own 2004 van.

mine is a brand new 59 plate and i'm sure there's a couple of tiny we spots of rust up top on the roof, there again it might just be me being paranoid about my new toy  :o :'(

What is the weifgt pay load of your connect.

The ford Connects have a plasic/rubber rim guard around the arches,I have an 04 SWB Ford Transit and has rust on the arches and roof and I'm sure the pure water does'nt help :(

do you all have 400lt tanks in the back of your connects guys?im planning to get one around july time.do you think ill get a half decent one for 3grand? :-\

hope i can fir a 400lt tank and trad gear in the back! ;D ;D

I have got a long wheelbase connect and its the best van i have had. Its fitted with a 400 litre pro 5 system and handles it fine.

Yes i have had it about 14 months now but feel its just the right size. Its got a 900 kgs payload so it handles the system with ease.

Due to the plastic around the arches it holds water.

If there is any way the metal can breathe it will cause oxidation. Then the rust will start.

On the plastic trims most have holes for the water to run free, even if no trim you should always keep arches clear and clean.

If you have rust spots appearing treat as soon as possible. Sand down any visible rust - apply a rust inhibitor like http://www.rustbulletuk.com

Allow to dry, apply primer then colour code.
