hi guys,
We are slowly making small changes to our T&Cs.
Which we are getting drawn up professionally. I was wondering what length you tie the customer into a cleaning contract. (Commercial Office cleaning) not residential.
At present we dont tie anyone in we just have a rolling contract. 30 days cancilation. But wondered if it is any better to tie in for 12 months, 2 years and so on etc.
We have rolling contract as we thought it would appeal more to clients. We have had a great success with it and have kept over 97% of our customers for many years.
cheers

In most cases I think 3 months is reasonable these days. You and the client need at least that, to be fair.
Wherever you can tie in 12 months if poss.

Would totally agree - our T&C's are exactly the same - rolling with 30 days notice.
I think its almost pointless to try and contractually have an extended notice period as if a client has decided for whatever reason its time for a change then you may as well move on and stop them coming up with spurious reasons for canceling wasting your time and money.

Thanks for the replies lads.
Much appreciated.
Looks like we may just keep the rollong contract.

Hi Dave,
Each cleaning contract varies.
Rolling is fine and appeals to a lot of clients. Try negotiationing contracts with fixed rolling periods if currently using a monthly rolling period.

Hi Dave
Our latest one is a three year deal with a further year option
Cancellation is 3 mnths both parties
Cheers

If you are planning on building a value to your business you will need each contract to be on a 12 months minimum.
Otherwise should you want to sell it would be worth zero.
At least that is what i have always been told :-\
