Title: stripping pads
Post by: stu_thomson on January 25, 2010, 11:40:49 pm
Have been using amtechs super strip pads for the odd stripping job i get, they are normally up to the job but had a real minger of a floor the other day, polish build up over years etc

Just wondered if there was any other more aggresive pads out there

had to use them metal scourers on places which done a fine job just need to get a 17" one!

I am assuming that it's a vinyl floor you have been stripping? You really need to be careful using catering scourers as they can take the top surface off some types of vinyl floors ............. I'm thinking Amtico here, which works out expensive and laborious to repair.

Personally I would be sticking with any good brand of black pad and concentrate on researching the stripping solution.

Look at this site for when you start doing really big jobs www.aztecproducts.com/ (ftp://www.aztecproducts.com/)  I've used the gas burnishers for buffing and though they are noisy they really do the business and quickly but I've never had enough work to warrant their stripping machines.

There are american.

Am I missing something, a few people keep putting links up to American sites.

What about the power wattage it different. Would that not cost money to change over?

I know the American products are cheaper. Truck mounts are cheaper in the states than they are here, I have managed to locate a company that will send over a TM at a reasonable price.
Dont tell them in the CC section lol  :o ;D.  Compared to here in the UK.

A lot of the Aztec kit is gas powered. As for American sites, I have always found that they tend to be 10 years ahead of us cleaningwise with their gear and methods. Perhaps this is because they put a greater emphasis on how things look clean. For example I have been in stores / malls where the floors really do look wet look!.

Have used the eclipse gas burnisher and they are the business. Shine in one pass but you must keep on the move or they will demolish the vinyl. Also used the "barracuda" stripping machine . . Brilliant - if you have a big enough job to merit it.

If anyone ever needs a gas burnisher - Aztec not Pioneer Eclipse, we have a number spare for coppers with a miniscule number of hours on them but as noted below they are designed for BIG floors.
