Hi
I've just set up my ro and di filteration system. I finding that I only get a trickle of pure water, well 004 tds and yet the waste runs a bit smoother. I have checked the trouble shooting and it says that this is down to the psi. My psi is only 45 and I cant get it above that. I have checked the feed hole and as small as it is I have found that it is clear. I have long tubes on it but I dont think that this will make much difference.
Can anyone help?
Has anyone else had this problem?

45 psi is low you need to get a booster pump from R/o man to up the psi. This will increase the psi up to 120 psi.
That will fix the problem.

Thanks Roy
I am wondering if it is possible to connect up the pump that you use for the wfp. If this can be connected to the ro unit then the psi will be greatly increased.
What do you think? It would certainly save on shedding out more money.

:)it wont work with your wfp pump it kept cutting out because of the ro unit something to do with the back pressure :) i tried it myself

It depends on the psi of the pump. The booster pumps I dont think have a preasure switch, and the wfp ones do it may be a problem.

Yup I understand what your saying but if you say have a 100 psi pump then that pressure can be reduced by a hose adapter. This is what I'm thinking as I have only just set up the ro unit and am buying in the other parts to build it up.
With a 100 psi pump you will want to reduce that pressure when using the wfp so the way to do it is to use the hose adapter.
I would have thought that the same adapter could be fitted to reduce the water pressure when fitted to the ro unit.
Its a thought and your comments are appreciated.

Don't forget, the pure water will only come out at a trickle anyway, I was worried about that myself when I first had my system.
My system for instance has a pure to waste ratio of 1:3 so the waste comes out a lot quicker.
Don't mess around with using your WFP pump to boost your water pressure, it'll end out running 24-7 and simply wear out. Plus you'll be faffing about with your battery and various connections.
Flow rate is also an issue to be aware of; my mains pressure is 80 psi but it shifts vastly more water per minute than the 100psi pump you would use with a WFP.
For the cost involved, the piece of mind you get from having everything permanantly connected up will greatly outweigh any percieved advantages you might have from using your WFP pump.

Ok thanks it all makes sense.
The question is. Is it worth buying one of these pump boxes to increase the psi on the mains water? Does it really make it that much faster?
As you could understand I dont want to fork out another £85 if it isnt going to make a lot of difference.

Pump boxes will boast the psi up to about 110psi, however some have had an increase of 80 - 100psi. The small R/o systems should not run much over 70psi.
When I had a 200gal per day unit it run at 80psi and would produce 200gal in 24 hours.
So the answer is your R/O unit will run at its max capacity.

personally steve i would say NO
if your going to spend 85 quid on the pump, you might aswell spend 65 quid and get the 100Gpd Membrane Upgrade Kit from RO man, this will increase your production
but as i said, mine is very slow, i leave it on for 48 hours and its job done my water butt is full
why not leave your exisiting running for 48 hours and see what you get, you will be s.prised
