Forum members may be aware that under the Working at Height Regulations 2005 there is a need for Duty Holders, employers & employees to be able to facilitate self rescue and not to rely on the emergency services.
Within any rescue this may include specific First Aid relating to suspension trauma.
Are there any members interested in a HSE approved specific First Aid training course…first course of its kind for the window cleaning industry I believe
If your interested e-mail me at Andrew.willis@impact43.com

What difference will there be between any other first aid training and window cleaning first aid training, I really fail to see any unless your training them to use a pole or a ladder as a splint.
I do however recommend anyone to take up a first aid course because one day it may save yours or someone else's life.
I am first aid trained by the military and from our own local Hospital before any one say's anything.

Willis, how much do you claim from the government for every window cleaner you get to come on your NVQ training? Is it £500?

I can’t recommend First Aid training highly enough.
I have done it all my life. First with the Army then as a SCUBA instructor. I have since done the St John Ambulance course which is updated every 3 years. (First aid at work)
I have been called upon many times to use it and feel good knowing I have been able to assist others in a time of need.
What annoys me is why don’t the schools teach it to the kids? Half hour a week for 5 years and every one of them would be well equipped for any situation.

Ha ha. Nice one Jeff.
To save money, maybe the splint could be a Harris pole.

I'm a strong believer of first aid training and my last update was around 8 months ago a the local St Johns Ambulance center.

its to do with suspension trauma, if someone gets stuck up on abseil or cradle
you have to be able to self rescue etc
