Title: Advice needed 300gpd r o problem
Post by: sparklebright on January 23, 2010, 08:50:47 pm
Got a problem with my 300 gpd r o unit.
Since December it has started producing much less water. Have changed the pre filters but to no avail.
Last winter the whole thing froze and I repalced the prefilters and the membranes with some cheapish ones from windowcleaning ware house.
My mains pressure is only 45psi. It's on 24/7, but flushed once a week.
Could it be that the membranes have been ruined by the low pressure and need replacing?
Can't see any other reason for the problem. Been WFP for 6 years and never known this before.
Any ideas?

Hi
cheapish membranes, 24/7, 12 month old. it's where I would put my money on your membranes being shot.

Hi,
same unit and same area as you. Unit is only 3/4 months old but like yours has slowed right down since xmas dont know if the temp is playing apart in the production but we dont normally get the kind of weather experienced in the past month. Having said that water production has increased a bit this week with the warmer weather - luckily ive got a merlin which i have as a back up which has allowed me to produce more so that i can catch up.

Is this a wind-up?

No windup. Margate area by Hospital. Had the merlin for sometime but not really idea for this area due to low pressure, water hardness ect , quite abit of waste etc but ok to keep you working etc.

Mine is slow at the moment but I put that down to the water being colder. It is a temperature sensitive process.

Same happenend to me. Got new membranes & filters but still not as quick as i would like. I think it must have something to do with the weather. Might look into something better later on in year.

LOL thought it was a friend of mine winding me up.
Yeah I had a merlin but sold cos of the above reasons. They are fine with good pressure, but with mine it produces water at 66ppm.
Wish I had kept it for a back up unit though.
