OK I was watching CIS on Five USA the otherday.
I know its a program but they generally do get their facts right on research to make it realistic.
So my question is this,
One of the CSI team investigating was looking at a car in particular the upholstery the carpets. The car had been detailed "Cleaned" with a carpet cleaner.
Now they said when people use a carpet cleaning machine all that does is push the dirt further into the fibers.
So they found ther evidence they wanted.
So is it true?

Researchers usually check this kind of claim to avoid any come backs, but researchers don't always get it right so they add disclaimers to cover their backs.
Mis information is bad for any industry and this is where a strong industry Association can prove their worth. On the How Clean is Your House programme they advocated the use of saddle soap for cleaning leather furniture. Something that would have serious long term consequences.
Is the programme a consumer advice programme or fiction ?
Even in consumer advice programmes there are are lengthy disclaimers nowadays, but the CSI type quote should at least be challenged by a professional from the c/c industry.

Hi guys
Not very credible and it is only fiction so I wouldn't take any notice.

I know what your saying Doug but Rob does have a point. We might see it as fiction but then we know better. From little acorns and all that.
All that said, I suppose theorecticallly water that travels will carry DNA with it but I doubt even the CSI could locate that within a couple of inches of sponge.

I wouldn't fuss too much about it, it's only American rubbish anyhow!
What bother's me more, is these ads for "Vanish" that leaves your carpet 4 times cleaner ???

Seems to me that CSI is just one big product placement for Maglites!
Don't they ever switch on the lights?
