not in my van, but I had my car converted.  Its working out great for me.

My car on petrol did 18-20mpg round town.  Gas is cheaper but does less mpg so the best way to work out equivalent mpg is how many miles can I do on gas for the same money as I used to spend of petrol, and it works out to about 35mpg.  So not quite double.

So if you do 100 miles on £10 of petrol, then £10 of gas would last about 180 miles

Yes.

Courier van

Pro's:  60p a lt or thereabouts.  Slightly less than double the milage per £1 spent on fuel

Con's:  Slightly less accelleration/top speed. Nearest filling station five miles away.  Every couple of months I have to put in £5 worth of petrol.

Does it reduce the size of the water tank
in the back. If you use poles
is the fuel tank that much bigger

The gas tank is across the van behind the seats.  It takes up about 14" of the length of the van bed.  I have a 300lt 'D' tank from Gardiners behind that and still plenty of room for my reel, etc inside the back doors.

I suppose it would be a bigger plus if you need to work in the congestion charging zone as there's no congestion charge I think.  They never seem to make up their minds if it's a congestion charge or a pollution charge.

Pros........ Much cheapness to run

Cons ...... Not cheap to repair when they go wrong

The engine does not last as long, because the engine runs at a higher temperature. But you save a bomb on fuel.

i've got a 03 astravan,

brilliant i would never buy a diesel again, i pay 49p litre currently, it did stop working and i had it repaired the next day was just a sensor,

ultra reliable, engines actually last longer cause the oil stays cleaner due to less carbon emmissons, i cant feel any difference driving on petrol or gas no loss of power what so ever.

price of the stuff varys a lot within 10 miles where i live cheapest is 49 and most is 65p!

i get about 130-140 ish miles to a tenner on gas and thats carrying loads of water and ladders on the roof, tank is in spare wheel well and holds approx 54 litres

my advice would be go for it you will save loads of money some people will give you negative feedback about lpg but 99 percent of the time they are telling you hear say and have never used it.

go lpg you will never drive a diesel again!

I started with a kangoo lpg and it was great so got newer lpg van vauxhall combi but had water problem nothing to do with. Gas  but kept boiling so got a diesal but was was costing me loads in fuel so i got lpg kangoo again  i do lots of miles so its great .the only bad thing i can says is the fuel gauges r well out on all three lpg vans it says your empty when theres loads left in so all  i do is  zero clock and then i know roughley what it will do also my tank. Is only 40 litres so on long runs you have to stop fill up a few times

 I am not the only one who has droped their mobile phone in a cleaning bucket then ;D. On the same day I done that, the side door fell off my van.  That was when I had the renault master.

Hi,

all our vans are LPG, if you work in London you dont pay Congestion Charge on LPG VANS.
Citroen do a good deals on Berlingo converted by Maclaren.

LPG vans are great.
are you looking to get a conversion or buy an already converted van?
if you looking at a van with it then go for it but if your looking to convert then do your maths first.

if your spending £150 a month on fuel now and lets say the conversion costs £1500.
you will then be spending £75 a month so will take 20month, nearly 2 years before your fuel savings even pay for your conversion.
