Just wondering what everyone uses. I use my personnel account as i don't get any charges as cheques are all in my name. Are there any advantages having a business account & if there is, what one is FREE where there are no charges at all? ;D

alliance-leicster is free but YOU get charged £ 7.50 if a customer bounces a cheque

i use alliance and leicester, works good for me, changed from lloyds, as no way am i paying them £30 a month for the priviledge of them having my money! im limited so i have to have a business account, but i wouldnt bother if your a sole trader,
whats good about A & L is i can pay the money/chqs into a post office which is just down the road from my house!
hope that £7.50 isnt true, had a cust bounce a chq the other day, will have to check my statement.

it is true unfortunately as its happened a couple of times to me ,I now put it on my quote letter that the customer is liable if they bounce a cheque on me.

I use HSBC, they have just charged me £51 last month for the privalige.

I shall be looking into changing my business account over in the next couple of months as im getting sick of the monthly 26.60 i am getting charged plus the fees they are telling me i owe them for lodging cash and cheques at the counter when i always use the express slip!!! w****rs!!!

I'm with A&L and the £7.50 is charged when cq's bounce. Had two this year :(
After two years free banking so long as you pay over £1k into your account each month there are no bank charges. If you dont, you pay £5 admin fee.
Great to use has my PO is just across the road. Nearest bank is in the town centre.

Most banks offer between 12 months and 2 years free business banking for new custards. I was with Hsbc for 18 months I'm now with HBOS for another free 12 months. I'll do this untill I run out of banks.

I use Abbey/Santander free business account.
I like to keep things separate and the business account is in the business name so I feel it looks more professional to customers rather than asking for cheques to be paid in my own name.
