Right folk, I have a 400litre "OTT" system in a Transit Van and because of having a bit of trouble with it - now sorted- I've been "advised" by Varitech that the repair was a bodge ( it's okay, I was stood there whilst the "bodge" was carried out ) in time I'm really going to have to upgrade it to a new system.
I'm going to go for a 800l tank but I'm also considering one of their heating systems for my water. They're adjustable, allowing me to lower the temperature during the winter and will cut in once the air temperature goes below 2'c for a short period , allowing warm water to flow around the system periodically, keeping hoses, etc free from ice ........ so far so good.
My question; and without wishing to sound rude, this is aimed at those who have taken the plunge, is the extra £2,000 plus fitting worth spending or am I better off sticking to my cold water set up?
What are the pros and cons; apart from the obvious expense?
Your honest advice would be most welcome.
Cheers fellas ( and ladies, obviously!! )

Blimey, it's the " Secret Squirrel Club " ;D
Any advice??????

Pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I assume they're not very good as it would appear that nobody has one ??? ???
I can't remember upsetting anyone so I guess all the guys with heated water are far too busy working to be on a website forum. ;)

My system is diy and i'm skint, but an upgrade does make sense.
The hot part will be an extra 2000 on top of the 2000 for the system surely? So you are asking is a system upgrade worth 5K.
In my opinion yes.

Yes the heater is £2k + vat, the 800l system a further £3k; a lot of money but I'm just trying to weigh up the pros and cons, especially when the weather turns nasty again.
The amount of lost days is scarey so hopefuly hot water would help; though it would still turn to ice on the floor I guess ???

lost days apart it's easier to work with and does a better job

If thats a 2 man system with frost protection, thats a good price! I would say that if you can afford it, then its worth every penny.
Where are you from? If your local to Cambridge, your more than welcome to come out and have a look at my set up.

Cheers buddy, I live in Plymouth, a bit of a hike.
I thought it was a decent price for a two man set up; and the thought of working with warm water, even in the summer, is a nice one.
Time for a bit of saving then I guess ;D
