Wow,
Best car?
I am not knocking anyone who works from a car. But how the hell do any of you manage?
I was traditional only at one point but I could never manage in a car when I was traditional. I found it awkward very awkward.
Now we are both trad & WFP.
Ive just upgraded my vehicle from an L200 - to a Vauxhall Vivaro 2900.
Have you guys thought about expanding your business... with a Van you could have sign writting, even carry extra stuff for extra services etc. JUust a thought.
best of luck to you all

Thanks Dave for your in put. I think most who use cars have little chose as vans do cost more money most just are not so fortunate as to afford one. So we make do. Its just 7 months ago I went into window cleaning not by chose but by not having much options or cash I now make do with my focus. I do wfp and trade and have a lot more equipment than many shiners. I carry 100 litres of water and find I can cope quite well. I am sure most would as finance progresses would love to own a van Every thing comes to those who wait patently

i saw the subject and thought ; wash your mouth out ; best car my arm ;D
-
when i had my estate car, i could carry 250 L of water, my cart, all my poles, my trad kit
it works and it works well
i then got a VW T4, which was nice and big, i carried the same stuff in it, just had loads more space around it, then onto a VW caddy, i still carried the same stuff in it
then onto my berlingo, i fitted a 400 L tank in it and ditched the 25 L barrels, i still use my cart and still carry the same kit ;D

Most of my work is fairly close. I load up with 100/120 litres and do a round in the morning. Pop back for a break and then re-load and go out and do another batch. I don't waste any water and don't have any complaints..
Yes - a van would be nice but I have to work within my physical ability at 63 and this works well for me.
I have 80 litres in the back in a custom made marine ply liner all restrained by heavy duty chains. A further 20 or 40 litres in the passenger footwell. I have a 25 litre trolley. A first floor pole, an intermediate pole and a 25 ft SXL from gardiners plus a range of trad items for those awkwards bits - all in a Fiat 500.
For the occasional larger jobs I have a 50 litre Omnitrolley and 100 mtr reel of micro-bore hose.
So... this suits me at my age but just shows that for anyone just starting up - you don't need a large vehicle - just a bit of thinking it all through. I can easlily clean 5 to 6 houses with this amount of water per loading - (except first cleans of course) - that's potentially £120 a day or £600 a week - that's got to be ok for a start up business to build on and all from a Fiat 500!!!

vw passat estate i run
carry as many ladders on the roof as i need.
In the boot i have a storage box, full of fairy liquid bottles, 6 inch squeeques. 10inch applicators. spare bungee cords, spare scraper blades.
Then i have a couple of 5gallon water drums. few black buckets.....
If i needed more stuff in the car, i'd 'drop' the back seats

The best car for window cleaning that would suit Trad and WFP would be a
Lada, it was originally built for Poles
I'll get me coat comrades :)

Best cars we have used were the VW Passat when we were trad and then when I started with WFP I used my VW Sharan (same as Ford Galaxy) for a while as the seats are removable and this was a great car, only changed it due to it being a 2.8 Petrol.
