Wondered if anyone uses twitter, facebook or similar to promote their business ?
My wife did a social media course not long ago where they teach you how to really promote your business through social networking sites.
I'm going to give it a go when I move, but wondered if anyone else does this ?
At the moment I'm using twitter to get used to it. Been on facebook for a while.
Anyone who uses twitter let me know.

I'm on facebook , and have a twitter account just not really used it.
-
I don't see the point in Twitter. ???
It's like facebook, but without the ability to have a string of comments afterwards and conversations.
-
I'm actually going on a free "social media workshop" next Wednesday, basically because I've heard a lot of people on about using Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn as part of their business marketing and I know very little about it or how it works.
Really I should send my 13 year old daughter on it instead, she already know more about these than I'm ever likely to understand!

Hello Window Wipers,
Yes, everyone I know is on twitter at the moment.
Appparently it can be used to build your business up and also give you more of a presence on the web.
If you would like to follow me here is my link: http://twitter.com/mrbungalowtwc.
If you do follow me, I will then follow you as you need to increase your followers.
Also get yourself a program called tweetdeck installed free off the web, which if you have Facebook accounts it will automatically update them for you when you post.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards.

now i like twitter, it gives a little insight into famous peoples lives ( what they want you to see ) i follow a few footy players
now facebook, i just cannot see the point, i had TWO e.mails last night, come and be my friend on facebook ::)\
now here is the harsh truth, i dont want to be your friend in real life ( thus i try to avoid you ) why on earth would i want to add you to my friends list on facebook, oh i know why, so you can think your popular with your 497 friends you have listed ::) ::)
oh and the flirting on facebook, here is a idea, get out and get down the pub, have a few drinks and then try and meet people, dont clog up my bandwidth with your " oh you dont look 36 " no, you look fooking 44, but i want to get in your pants
though saying that, twitter would be pretty boring
i have just cleaned number 30 newbuild road , soulless estate
i have just cleaned number 32 newbuild road , soulless estate
i have just cleaned number 34 newbuild road , soulless estate, they gave me a cuppa
i have just cleaned number 36 newbuild road , soulless estate, they moaned that the grass is now wet
38 newbuild road , soulless estate are miserable and cannot see out of the windows, scuffy urchins
i have just cleaned number 40 newbuild road , soulless estate
thats it for the day, this job is boring and i am off home

One of our carpet cleaning custies suggested we open a facebook for BFG (Brit forces Geramy ) as they have alot of stuff going on. She opened it for us and we use it to advertise all over here. Been up about 3 or 4 weeks and we are getting work off it. Free advertising that gets results I think is always a good idea. Got a personal site too, but not really bothered about it.
Don't intend to use twitter though.

Went on the BNI Social Media Workshop last night, 3 hour workshop and really helpful, got an insight into using Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin for business and also found out about "Tweetdeck".
-
Ian, how much was that course ? Or was it free if you in BNI ?
-
Im always getting invites for there, one being for next week, might just go to the 1st meeting as dont fancy paying £500 a year then £8 a week membership.
-
We have just joined BNI, social media workshop was £6 ;D
The jury's still out on whether or not BNI is good for business at the moment, I joined just before Christmas and have had one referral so far, though they do say that it takes a couple of months for other members to get to know you and understand your work.
I'd certainly go along a couple of times as a visitor just to get a feel for it, I've spoken to 2 other cleaning companies who are in other Chapters and they seem to do very well from it, one has been a member for 4 year, the other for 2.

I just got on Twitter and plan on using it extensively to keep my customers updated on specials and referral programs. I'm at www.twitter.com/ANewViewWC
-
I'm on facebook and have made a link to my website and invited people to be fans of my business.
