i like it,will do the job as well as any of our wfp set ups,bet it cost a dam sight less too ::)
-
Is it even legal to use this on roads and pavements
i like it,will do the job as well as any of our wfp set ups,bet it cost a dam sight less too ::)
But does it look proffesional or does it look like a pikey idea
-
it looks a bit pikey, but it will get you noticed a lot more than any sign written van, people (except commercial custys) do not give a rats ass what you drive around in/use,as long as their windows are clean
-

Not only will it get you noticed by customers but also notice by the police as its probably no MOT TAX INSURANCE ETC it will probably losr you your licence so you will have to do your round from an asda trolley
-
Best Pikey accent....... "I cleans yer winders and tarmacs yer drive missus" " Oh and o'il take away any old scrap iron to.
-

how did you guess I have no valid mot certificate?
No flies on you.
Then maybe it's on an 08 plate.
And you have stylish teavellers near you if they drive Dune Buggies.
Around here it's transits & flat beds.

It looks like a piece of hi tec plant. Well done for putting it together.
If it does the job, and why shouldn't it, that's all that matters.
-
Hi tec plant?
Its a go-kart Dai, theres nothing hi tec about go-carts.
If someone who is meant to be a professional turned at my house in a bodged go-kart, looking like its all been salvaged from the local scrap yard and thrown together for a bet I know where Id tell them to get off.
No wonder the general public have a poor opinion about window-cleaners.

Kev, I don't think they will look so good after a week of driving rain and sub zero winds ???
-
Well Dave,
it's just the sunny days for them.
My wife thought T Shirt promo piccies would be good. But when I pointed out that 99% of the clientelle are female she realised that it might be targetting the wrong sort of custie.

it would seem peoples definition if professional does vary.
dài, Have you managed to work all through this cold spell?
I would define professional as somebody who had all the tools that meant he could return every 6 weeks, no matter what the inclement, & do a quality job with no complaints.
This country has long devalued engineering talent & gone for fashion.
Thiscontraption of ours will be still going strong when your van has gone through clutches, brakes galore.

Dave,
I've had nothing but positive comments on the quad. Everyone,
ale, female, youngsters, oldsters, all love a quad.
I now use 200 litres on a full day: so with a125 litre tank on the bike plus a small trailercarrying another 125 litres plus L5. You got the best vehicle fir wfp. It ain't gonna rust, bits are easy to replace yourself ( though apart from tyres, I've had no mechanicals in 5000 miles).
AND it can handle this ice & snow with no trouble.
Picking up on other threads, I've discovered you can buy snow plows for these can ams, so hopefully next year we'll add car park clearances to the services we offer.
Kevin.

like the helmet :D

I'm telling you (on behalf of Kevin) that's real; he earns good bucks and it goes to prove you don't need to spend gazzillions on a shiny van to prop up your ego.
Where Kevin works in Carrotcrunchershire, he's laughing as his set up gets up all the farm tracks and the custies love it!
-
Actually am thinking of a shire horse, if armageddon arrives after my retirement. Just a few houses, no mot hassles. Lovely customer relations bit.
Whether this is a wise decision will be proved this summer: if the ladies generate 2 days work per week via canvassing & notoriety Of Dune Buggy, then it's a winner & I also will have back up vehicle if quad needs attention.
The buggy did good in the snow but span on inclines
Kevin
-
I am just waiting to hear a voice shout out arrald.............. Arrrrrrold where is my go cart gone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
;D
Ian
p.s it is works for you then fair play, country life most have changed since i WAS THERE LAST AS IT WAS SPORT TRACTORS ;D
-
If you could angle it that it was especially adapted for off road and awkward rural applications, but you used it for all your round, i could buy into that as a potential customer. If you could pick up some tv/advert work with it (more probable than you might think there are talent agencies for unusual vehicles and the current corrie wc story line suggests itself..) then you could probably justify it.
Otherwise i think you will set your business back. But i'm an old git so what do i know.
-
That's nothing, you should have seen what Kev used to use before the quad!
-
This thread sums up CIU
a guy ( Kev in this case ) does something slightly different and posts about on here
a fair few jump up and down and shout " you should have a shiney van and wear a uniform and carry a ID badge , otherwise you are letting the good name that is a window cleaner down "
live and let live folks

nice one!
Woudnt it be lovely to see real characters finding imaginative/humourous ways of acheiving the same end. Lifes rich tapesrtry would forever expand giving us all a smile on our fizzogs.
If one supplier became dominant I would fear the greyness of a dark old style communist state.

I did think about getting the ghost busters type car, and back packs to get in the papers ;D. Still unsure if Mad Max would have the same affect ;D

What, so that's not an Ionics system behind the buggy then?

Nothing wrong with a bit of DIY, my trolley is still as good as new after three and a half years.
-
My DIY trolley is still doing the business after more than 3 years, it does everything I want from it, even letting me stand on it to unlock gates.
I really don't need a van mount.
I can't post a picture as it says the upload folder is full and I don't know how to resize the image

Peeps are taking the pikey, but .....
Have to say first impressions are "what the * is that?"
Then with a bit more thinking I came to the conclusion "why not?"
I posted a long time ago about a member who runs a van worth about £400 and a trolley system based on a sack truck and compared him with a brand new van system worth £25k- £30k and asked "who's got his head screwed on?" Remember both units are capable of the same work.
After a month of no work for some on here I know which one made more sense. ;)

4 and 1/2 K :o :o i didnt realise they cost that much
-
They seem to be built well. Tough suspension, good alloy wheels, disc brakes all round, hydraulic clutch.
And what really appeals to me over a van is everything is accessible maintenance wise & it's all "old technology". ie, stuff I understand.
This one was 2nd hand from a local taxi driver who bought it on a whim & only did 300 miles in 18 months!
Kevin.

The trailer looks like it could do with tidying up a bit. But apart from that, it looks brilliant.
It's economical to run and you only ever do 30 mph or less through the town anyway, so it's perfectly suited to your needs.
Could you get some side-plates made up for the trailer that you could put some sign writing on?
On another tack, would it be possible to heat up the water at home and make insulating jackets for the cans? That way you could remove the heater and save complication and weight.
-
Nice to have positive input!
You're totally right about the trailer. Gonna eventually have stainless side pieces with the firms details lasered through.
The L5 don't normally go on this trailer but as the quad had been nicked on Monday, it was a rush jib fitting it. Still it worked well.
If we get some sun this week, I'll take some more pics now that the heaters back on the quad trailer. ( got it back!)
it does look tidied in the flesh.
Cheers, kevin.
