guys i hear of companies that are "National Based" how is this done?
How would anyone go about getting "National " contracts for shops etc.
I've been doing houses for 3 years now and want to branch into commercial abit more .
:)

If i were you i would get a good optimized website, write letters and call businesses that are local to you for starters. Taking on national contracts, even if its just national shop chains, could be a nightmare if you don't know what you're doing.

Thanks AJ
I have a few shops in the high street .
theres a few guys round my way that seem to have it all wrapped up ,I've asked a few bigger shops and they all say it's done by National companies ....

hi im with a company and ive got alot of contract work, they saw me in yell.com.so just advertise and 1 day they will phone you
-
a lot of national contracts are just sub out to smaller companys, u get a lot on here asking for different areas, its just easier for there accounts dept to deal with 1 national company and let them subby the work out and have the crap

It dosnt always work, like with waitrose. Before they went with area w/c companies I knew a guy who cleaned one for 18 years & they were happy. Since the new company took over there have been loads of em coming and going & witrose store managers aint happy.
I think it will all slowly revert back to sole traders doing a good job as they personally look after it.
That isnt to say all w/c working for these companies do rubbish work. Far from it. Its just in this case

with the way things are commercial work would be very slow all the companys going bump and all that.
worth a go though, good luck to you.
i just do houses me self.

I wonder if the issue is a different one from the perspective of the national manager in the head office that deals with the contracts, is the level of grief that a he gets from his store managers worse than the grief he had in co ordinating large numbers of sub contractors.
I would also hazard a guess that a national retail chain using say 50 sub contractors across the country has its fair share of problems. The problem are different but the end result for the national manager is the same, headaches.
Most retail stores window look ok to me, not brilliant but like they ocasionally get a rub from someone, if these companies want to look for the bottom price either in local subbies or national contracts they will get low quality work for the most part.

Maybe best sticking to houses then
The few commercial I have tend to pay every 30days or more which is a total pain
-
i think the main reason these contract ppl change so often w/c is to get the cheapest 1 in town which imo is stupid just stick with 1 and be done with it

im fed up of national companies ringing me up asking if i would sub for them, they usually only offer you £5 a week for some shop window in and out, get stuffed! shop windows should be looked after by local cleaners not someone living 200 miles away!
