Hi,
Im new to this site and I am looking for some advice.
I recentley started my own cleaning business 3 months ago. I purchased all the basic equipment and did everthing I needed to do to start up.
The local newspaper did a feature for my start up which brought in some customers but since then its going downhill.
I have advertised in the yell and other internet based directories, delivered 2000 flyers by hand, given out business cards, and my van has signage on it also, but still business is very slow 1-2 jobs a week.
Does anyone have any advice on how I can get more custom?
All help and advice is appreciated

Knock on doors.
Takes longer then leafleting, but the response can be higher.
Late afternoon/evenings best.

I think your doing all the right things, its just that January is usually quieter than normal & obviously this is your 1st January. Maybe you could go to your local town or industrial estate & hand out some cards - things will pick up.

Just turn up to peoples houses unannounced with all you gear, raring to go ;D
You can laugh, but I did just this by pure mistake when I knocked on the wrong door with a wand and buckets in my hand.... The lady opened the door and said "Hello, come in.....!"
"I said "Thank you Mrs Johnson!
"I'm not Mrs Johnson, she lives next door!" ???
I apologised and asked if she wanted a quote to which she replied "I've got wooden flooring!"
You may get lucky with this approach :D

It will take time to get established.
Maybe ask your clients if they know of any friends or relatives that might need your services.
When i started i was in the same boat.
Maybe get to know another cleaner in your area who might need a hand, thats what i did when i started.
Good luck :)

Hallo shine
You’ve only just started your business. Did you think it was going to be that easy?
You have got to be an extremely fit and never say die type of person in this business; you have to constantly plug your business. Leaflet continually; produce excellent workmanship, contact previous customers continually. Canvass as much as you can when you have any spare time. Contact all your friends relatives they will need your services.
Never give up. Give 100% to developing your business and don’t let anyone or anything stop you from achieving your goal and having an extremely profitable business.
Stevie wonder.
