Title: varistream problem
Post by: sham33 on January 12, 2010, 06:44:42 pm
Hi, the green light on the varistream controller keeps flickering and no water is coming out. Any 1 else had this problem and knows what it means? I dont know if the battery is low or the pumps going, never happened before.

ive had the same problem today . went out all set done 5 jobs then the light started flashing i think its because the battery went flat as i have nt used it for over 3 weeks probly. Hopefully once its charged right up it will work

Hi

When I had this happen it turned out that my battery had failed.  As the green light was quite bright I wrongly assumed that the battery was ok but when I checked with a meter it only registered about 3 volts.  This was after being on charge for many hours.  A new battery was the only cure in my case but the original was nearly 3 years old so no complaints.

So...  first thing is to check the battery voltage.

You could also have a poor battery connection. Some use 'crocodile' clamps which I found don't always provide a suitable contact. I had them on my trailer unit and had no end of trouble wth them.

Just to back up the good advise - battery requires charging, i had this a few weeks ago and the fuse to the battery was blown  so once the battery was low the flow kept stop/starting every second or two.

charge it up or get a replacement.

The green light also flashes when the voltage is too high, so if you have a split charge relay charging an already full battery at say 15-16 volts the light will flash and the varistream not work.  Thats the case for the varistream 2 anyway.
