Title: asda/tesco
Post by: d.ward on January 11, 2010, 09:20:45 pm
ive been asked to clean a tesco store in liverpool and was just wondering how much would you say is reasonable to quote them for all of outside, signage and entrance doors inside and out?

This could be my first commercial job so i dont want to overcharge and miss it

Have you been asked by ANTAC UK to do it?

If so you will find you are subbying to another cleaning company, we were asked to do the same a while ago, quoted them £30 per clean, insides and out, done every week.  They came back saying it was too much, could we do it for £30 for a MONTH on a weekly clean....................er...........NO!

Advise you strongly to avoid it.

Really, if you want commercial, go for SME, local enterprises.

Any big company, ESPECIALLY Tesco, will simply get you dependent on them (give you more work, get you to overstretch and get into debt) then, when you can't do without them, they'll renegotiate the price down.

They don't care. If they put you out of business, there's always some other mug who'll take them on.

Ive heard this before so i want to make sure that i can give a good price thats going to be right for me and hard to undercut or beat

Im going to keep my reidential houses an try to expand into hotels care homes and office building in the norh west so by no way would i be dependant on one company

Certainly don't sound stupid. Stupid is not knowing and not asking. Not knowing and asking is smart in my book.

SME = Small and Medium-sized Enterprises = Your local mini markets, Spar/Londis type places, Cost Cutter, local car dealerships, medium sized hotels, locally owned care homes, that sort of business. It really means smaller, locally owned and run businesses.

SMEs make up a far larger part of the economy than big companies, plus they are less likely to screw you. They will certainly want value for money, but they won't try to put you out of business by renegotiating the prices down every few months.
