Title: Trade magazines versus leaflets
Post by: CleanerCarpets on January 11, 2010, 09:09:12 pm
I run half page adverts in 8 different trade magazines (A5 size delievered to domestic letterboxes) every month. That, along with a good and ever improving prescence on the internet serves me well, but of course always looking for better.

Some other cleaners dont run ad's in the trade magazines at all but use them to distribute their leaflets. They dont have the leaflets in all the distribution of the magazine, say the mag goes to 4,000 homes, they have 2,000 leaflets dropped with it. Fom what i can see the magazines charge £25 per thousand dropped on average and i pay on average £30 - £55 per half page advert. The distribution on the magazines vary from 4,000 to 18,000 (claimed.)

I am just trying to measure opinions - who prefers the advert route and who would suggest the regular leaflet drops to be better?

New look, ive been down this road a few times and each area/region is different. You will only tell by yourself doing trial and error with each method over a period of time and then making your descision on your return.

Hi Jase

Rod's in the pond principle. The more rod's, the more fish. Not the answer you may have hoped for but, when one thing isn't working the other(s) might.

The trick, if there is one, is knowing when your spending too much on advertising and too much time thinking about advertising.
