I feel like trying to sue the government for loss of earnings, i pay my poll taxes, and every other tax,
Only to find they have no grit to clear the side roads where we all work, stopping us accessing our workplaces,
hence no wage.
what do you think?
-
You could try I suppose, but it sounds expensive to me.
I think you'd be better off using the Serenity Prayer! ;D
-
If you want them to grit the side roads you'd pay more council tax
-
i think you may get the 2 finger salute lol ;D
-
estate roads, not remote country tracks.
-
grit them yourself if you are that desperate ;D ;D
-
the council tax we pay something like a quarter goes to pensions, it takes about 12 houses council tax, to pay the wages of one person who works at the council, and they are the badly payed ones, once they have payed wages and pensions, there isnt a lot left to actually spend on what people need or want, tahts why they are all trying to get peole to pay for parking and cutting back on services

try fitting winter tyres onto your van and you would be able to drive on the snow & ice or are you using summer/all season tyres on the snow like 99 percent of this country?
you have the cheek to complain that you cant drive and that somebody else should blast salt everywhere so that you can drive your van???
in other countries everything does not come to a stand still when it snows,

Don't be fooled by the national press. People pay in to these schemes but I believe the councils use the money elsewhere but don't plan on how they are going to pay it back later. Then they bleat through the press that the Council Tax money is all going to pay pensions.

Why is it cheeky to expect to be able to drive my van on a road?
i pay a huge council tax bill, no help or subsidies like some people, i also pay road tax!
so the very least i expect is that the money is being used right.
ok , so its taking the councils by suprise this "big freeze"... and we have suffered some adverse conditions, but to run out of grit, after only treating main roads is unacceptable!
And your point about other countries being able to cope, i presume you mean the ones who have bad snow every winter?
Well they are equipped for those conditions as it is a way of life, so they spend millions on the right machines,.... Their whole economy is geared around bad winters with snow being a huge money maker to their economy,
take a look at some countries, they manufacture and sell snow clearing machines like we make cars,
thats why they cope , because its a way of life to them.
would you expect me to clear the roads on my round?
a little pathetic that comment, .. i think.

Just looking at what Gazza has said...you can definately see a point in there...I mean wonder how much tax revenue and all the other money that revolves around the country is lost when this happens.
Obviously I do not know to what extent that small business money circulation affects the economy but I guess that we would all be taken back at the knock back effect of the small mans loss of earnings.
Would'nt it be nice not to have to listen to the same excuses coming from local and main govt agencies.
Dave.

council tax
car tax
tax on insurance
income tax
fuel tax

your moaning about not being able to drive your van on the snow? you can if you pulled your head out of your arse and go fit some winter tyres onto your van
do something yourself and stop relying on other people to sort out problems.
in other countries they use winter tyres here they blast salt everywhere for the people who cant drive (like you gazza)
in some countries its illegal in winter to be driving around using summer tyres because there dangerous on snow and ice
-
Its not the local council Gazza whos responsibility it is to keep roads clear, its the county council.

I can drive mate,
and i feel its not me who has his head stuck up his arse,
This is a topic about how the government has failed lots of people, including small businesses who work outside, after paying astronomical amounts of taxes per annum,
not about snow chains and clearing our own roads,
i did ponder with the idea of snow chains, but once again it would be out of our pockets, through negligence of councils etc,... been out lots of times trying to work,
also you know nothing about me or how i work, and i am presuming you have worked with your snow chains since xmas??? .... ::)
And your arrogant and personal comments have no place on here mate.
but each to their own,

look on bright side if you cannot work tax man gets less next year
