Title: Working tomorrow
Post by: gewindows on January 10, 2010, 06:46:14 pm
SORRY!! The 4th option down is meant to say that you are trad

So how does it stand lads considering there has been some talk on here today of the weather improving, a thaw starting.

Have things improved sufficiently for us to be able to go and make a start?

Providing my van gets up the hills either side of my house I'll be working.

It's a bit cold but not too bad here; this morning was the first for a week or more that I've not had to clear ice from the van; the windows were all clear.

I'm a married man with four kids and a dog ................................... with all that expense I really should be making the effort ;D

I'm out in the sticks in Derbyshire. I shall continue doing downstairs Trad next week unless it gets above freezing as leaving water everywhere to freeze does not seem the right thing to do. As I am so far behind I feel that at least I'm servicing some customers rather than just waiting.

I find if you don't try to do some thing you can wait longer for the weather to improve than if you get out and see what you can do.

Yes it does look like a window of opportunity is presenting itself.
The terrain is very flat around my way and it looks like >0 temperatures tomorrow so I'm going out there.  The work I have is:   first thing is I will clean a cafe in and out.  I was meant to do it on Saturday but the battery died in my van anyway (now sorted).  I will use neat screenwash if necessary for the outside as it's an early job.  Then a couple of miles more to drive and start on domestics.  Hopefully the inside of my van won't be frozen.  Unfortunately the way I live means that I can't park near electricity so I have to rely on draining the van pipework each night.  It does leave a little bit frozen near the pump though.  No problem.  Even without a functioning van mount I will still go for it if it's >0.  It will just have to be containers and backpack and pull the water from the van mount with a jug if I really have to (shouldn't need to as I will probably be able to fill from static unit.  Whatever way it works tomorrow, I anticipate fairly slow progress as I don't want to be slipping everywhere.

I've rung my helper, and will refit the pumps first thing tomorrow and check the system.

I'm dreading going to work. No, really dreading it.The two things forcing me are ny helper needs the money and i hate losing customers. Will not be looking to break any records, just cover him and a couple over.

I had to fire wcp up to get a work sheet and i had to refer to help for some of the functions it's been that long. I have seperated my work into four areas or rounds, the one i printed had 117 jobs due by tommorow.

When i say i'm dreading it i really am, where do you start?

We are up for tomorrow, lot of snow has gone overnight here, temp outside is +3degc at the moment.

Got a load of big money commercial that is outstanding from Friday so that will be the first to get hit, then domestic work on the coastline where it's quite mild.

Canterbury

All loaded up ready to go - heaters on just in case.

A thaw set in today but just looked out (10.30pm) and and snowing heavily - all roofs and cars covered again but might have gone by morning.  Late start perhaps though.
