Title: Sureflow pump problem - No water coming out
Post by: stuartb on January 07, 2010, 08:49:34 pm
I have a sureflow pump conected to my Purefreedom system. A short while back I noticed that the port at the back of the van seemed to be rattling or vibrating, I checked the way it was all fitted and all seemed ok, then checked the pump which seemed to be working ok. The vibrating seemed to get worse and I noticed I had to turn the flow speed up more than usual to get my normal amount of pressure. The water seemed to pulsate and splutter from the port. Someone suggested it was the strainner that may be loose so I took it off, had a look inside and put it back and guess what...now no water comes out at all, I can hear the pump whiring around but nothing comes out, not a drop. I made sure the pipes were not all iced up and there was some ice in the pipe from the tank heading towards the pump.

This is the second Sureflow pump i've had, the first lasted about a year and a half, this ones only about six weeks old. Could it be the cold weather?

Any ideas cause i've run out

Cheers
Stu

Good chance that it has been left with water in it and the water has frozen, it's more than likely buggered now.  Always wrap them up well when it's cold outside or take them inside if possible.

I would think it has frozen. I cleared my trolley monday and tuesday morning wouldn't work. Turned out to be a little bit of water still inside the pump.
Try bringing your trolley indoors for the night and try again in the morning.

Not sure. I spoke to Purefreedom and they basically said  that as lond as everything was done up correctly and there was no leaks then the pump would eventually suck water if I turned the controller up to full...I tried it but it did'nt work. I also took the connector of the pump to see if it was sucking but could'nt feel anything at all.

A friend of mine has to suck water through his sureflow every morning without fail, It just wont self prime, its then fine all day unless he stops for a long break then back to sucking water through. No idea why either.

Make sure you have no joints between the pump and the inlet hose.
