If you were employing someone to clean windows the traditional way and paying them £5.10 nmw per hour would you expect them to work in the rain
-
As long as the customer does not mind.

I would expect them to work in all weathers if you employed them full time.
You can't have someone sitting about when you are paying them.
If they could not clean windows they could always put some leaflets out.

If you're prepared to work in the rain; then your staff will follow your lead. Don't make a fuss about it - or they'll think negative thoughts; just do it. I'd also prepare them with a couple of set answers on the off-chance they get quizzed about it by a customer. Not that customers do ask (I've not had one), but to give them the confidence to get stuck in there.
There's plenty of other occupations where working in the rain is the norm.
Personally, I won't work in the heavy stuff; but will in the lighter rain and drizzle.
And it rarely rains heavily all day.

If they wont work in the rain they wont be prepared to work in the cold.
The good thing about w fp is you can work in the rain, couple of water proofs and you havent got to take the day off.
If a customer complains I tell them they get the final rince for nothing ;D

Never pay an hourly rate! BIG mistake! Pay them a percentage of the days takings. That way the more they do, the more they earn, also the more YOU earn! If they don`t work they don`t earn...simple really.
