Title: which pole??
Post by: David Kent @ KentKleen on January 07, 2010, 05:41:45 pm
Hi everyone, just thawing out after a day maintaining me van, I have just recently started wfp and was happy with all your advice on which hoses to buy, can you help by telling me what you think a good pole and length of pole to buy as the ones i got with the system i bought (second hand) are knackered. Any thoughts on the xtel hybrid poles? I am mainly doing domestic 2 storey high stuff and will keep the old omnipole i got for anything higher. 200 to 300 budget?? many thanks :)

i bought a brodex alloy pole.
25ft, brush, alloy gooseneck. was around £160 delivered for it.

its a great pole and has very little flex compared to fibregalss but it can get pretty heavy after a while.
ill be making the diy ron thompson fishing pole very soon as i believe its reasonable light and suitable for most 2 story work.

If you have an established round and aren't messing about then I would say gardeners SL-X.  I have a 25ft one and it's brill.  I also have a 28ft xtel hybrid which I thought was good until the SL-X came out, it never gets used now.  The prices may seem high at first but you get the complete package, brush, hosetail and delivery, for many companies these are extras.

If your starting up and are on a budget then a 17tf xtel glass fibre should do most stuff at a stretch, I wouldn't use the xtel glass fibre at over 17 ft as it's just too bendy.  Or even a converted Harris pole.
