Water was freezing at the jets today so couldn't work.
I've gone out and bought 2 300w aquarium heaters which I'm going to fit shortly.
Anyone got any advice for me ?
I've got a 400L upright and am planning to drop one in the lid and another on the other side by making a hole in the top or can I just drop them next to eachother ?

thats about it to be honest, set the thermostat as high as it will go and thats it

so one each side ? how shall i drill the hole in the tank ? oh and plug it up too when i remove them
they are glass ones £13.99 - up to 34 degrees, cant really afford to buy these at the moment, but cant afford not to work

I've had 1x 300w in a 250 ltr flat tank for two days know, the water is wounderful, could have a bath in it ;)

cant ge tmies in as tank is completely frozen. i had radiator in van from 4pm till 7am this morn and still not thawed out :(

you only need aquarium heater in your tank i wouldnt bother drilling it .

If I don't drill it I will only be able to get them on one side of the tank other wise I'm risking breaking the glass on it.

1 will heat it up, I have a 300W heater in my 350 litre van mount, it gets it up to 25C.

I'd appreciate advice too on this please - water froze in hose today as snow on ground - was fine if i kept it off the ground, but obviously not practical.
Defrosted it by running some warm water over the hose a few times, but kept re-freezing and i gave up.
Where can i buy a heater for my 650l flat bed tank? Sorry to be daft here, but will this keep it warm for a few hours after leaving electricity supply behind, or does it run off a battery?

If your tank is insulated with blankets and the like, you should be ok for a good few hrs, I would have thought.

I use a 300w aquarium heater in my 650 litre tank.
I drilled a v small hole 8 inches in from the side, fed the cable up thru the hole and tied a knot in it so the heater can't touch the bottom of the tank, then put a plug on it, leave it overnight it stops the water freezing.I haven't insulated my tank as it keeps the van warmer and stops my hoses freezing.
Then again I am in the south east and it's only been -4deg here....

how long does your water stay warm for after leaving the heater off?

Not very long, I use it to stop it all freezing overnight, not had any problems during the day though.
According to my thermometer the water was at 11deg c when I left today, despite it being -4 last night. As I said I'm in the South East not sure it would be enough further North.
I pondering adding another one, to see what that does...

Matt..I have same van mount and I'm interested to know how long it takes to get to 25C and how long thewater stays warm for when using it.

i was woudering that if u got a 12v water heater and ran it off another batter in the day wile u was working how long do u think the bat would last?

mine are touching the side of the tank,.. it'll never melt the plastic when its surrounded by water.

ive got the same problem mate so this afternoon i had enough and just ran hot tap water into the tank just to get it melted enough and it worked. tomorrow i will run it through the di till its pure again

mine is the unbreakable one with plastic housing. it just suckers on the bottom of the tank.

12v is just not man enough to generate any real heat I'm afraid.

the battery would die really quick
its a no-go
you could buy a small suitcase genny, that would power a heater
