I cleaned a house yesterday, a big un, Ive done it for about 18 months now, never seen the owners, do the house, a cheque arrives in 2 days time :)
well yesterday, i was in a rush, i didnt clean in the morning had a few things to do (those who know, i went to pick some welding up, it wasnt done, but thats another story), i said to my daughter i would go swimming with her and the mrs, i got back from the metal shop and it had stopped raining, so i had 2 odd hours to kill so went to do this big house (wfp allround)
anyways, the guy came out, and was chatting, a little posh, but a ok fella (house must be worth 1.5 Mill quid)
he asked what the Cart and pole was about, i explained what it was, and he offered me some more work
it turns out he owns 2 manor house hotel/restuarant type of things down near Weymouth (about 2 hour drive from me) i wasnt interested at first, too far etc etc
he then went on to explain he used to have them done by a compay who had pure water van mount, but he didnt like the hoses trailing through and around the place, so he got rid of them
i then explained i had built my own system, this impressed him ALOT, it seems his old man was high up in the army, REME, so he liked the idea of my system
i said i still wasnt really interested, as it meant a fair bit of travel, he said, charge me what you like, i will pay extra for your travel time, your petrol etc, he even said he would get a porter to carry the barrels and place them around the building :o :o and i can even have my lunch in the restuarant ;)
looks like i could be doing a little travel, all because of my DIY system, and they said it wouldnt work :P

REME is an accronym for 'Rough Engineering Made Easy', so no wonder he was impressed with your system.
But it was probably your personality, not the system that got you that contract.
Well done, Matt.

grafters, i think you might find they said "unprofessional and cheap and nasty"
but what so they know eh ;)
i know one thing for sure, if i had a van mount, i would have never have got the jobs

Hi Matt
Blimey.
Those times things like that happen feel good don't they.
A few weeks back we were looking at a new job (an architects 4 story office block) that all had to be done from the insides with harnesses and I was checking that the lanyard was long enough to go from the fall arrest bolts to the far side of the windows when a visitor asked us to call next door when we were done.
The place next door was an old school half way through being converted into flats.
We've now got all the builders cleans for a large company called Quadric for all renovations within about 30 miles where we live.
I forgot to add that the visitor was a director of Quadric and was likewise with you in your posting, impressed at how professional we were.
That made our day especially as within a month our WFP will be up and running plus trolley.
Cheers

i might even have to get a merlin and put it on site somewhere :), depends on the size of them though
but the amount the other firm charged was a nice little earner
