well said Franky lad.

and the thing is its not just the pre and after Xmas weather,   Ive been coming on here for over a year now and you still get them coming on here telling you how a customer completely ruined their life by asking could they leave it this month.

some people just come on here wanting everyone else to feel sorry for them,  one thing Ive observed is that some of these so called window cleaners wouldn't last 5 minutes in a so called proper job.

so its the start of a new year and believe me its gonna be another year of posts from the feel sorry for myself brigade  YOPU KNOW WHO YOU ARE

and Franky your DEFO not in the brigade,  your a happy smiling person cleaning windows and enjoying each day no matter what it throws at you.

LONG LIVE THE KING, FRANKY IS THE KING  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Perhaps you are lucky enough to be in a financial position that enables you to take a prolonged period off work and not suffer. But to tell others to "stop moaning" is very insensitive.

I am sure there are plenty of guys on here just starting out, maybe with young families to support.  It takes years to build up financial security and something like this prolonged bad weather can be a very serious threat to that. So don’t be so smug and assume that just because YOU are ok everyone else should be.

I havent worked since 18th Decemebr either, moaning about it wont rid us of the snow.
I have a credit card for emergencies, so living off that until the weather improves.
If you manage your financies correctly, you should have money saved for January and February!

Brickies cant lay bricks in less than -4 and thats with an anti freeze additive put into the mortar.

Thank you for your very intelligent reply Stephen, however if you stop smoking your “big fat one” long enough to allow your brain to work properly and then re read my post you will realize I am not moaning.
I am actually one of the lucky ones and am very well set financially. I have a large business and plenty of assets, if it snows till March I will be ok,
I was referring to the less fortunate than myself who are starting out in this career. Those who will struggle if this weather continues.
If they wish to come on here and moan then that’s what forums are all about.
If you don’t like it, read a different post. Or perhaps this is more to your liking http://forum.grasscity.com

I budget for losing 2 weeks in January and February! which I have already used up.

Alot of people buy their everyday things on their CC and pay the balance off when they get paid at the end of the month, so I'm not doing any different to them am I?

I also like to wind some friendly w/c up and they me and of coarse to get advice,    I don't come on forums to wine about how a customer cancelled today and completey ruined my day,   I leave that to the sad people who thing the world owes them something.

can we stop the moaning, a few days lost and most of you think its the end off the world. :o :o :o :o

Although it could cause problems if it persists, I'm using the time to get organised to make a big push next month to better my business.  Apart from that, a few days enforced lay-off may not be too bad for me because I would have continued working with lower back pain.  That time I worked between Xmas and new year is looking more worthwhile with each passing day.  Glad no-one tried to "run" me whatever that means  :)

Proper jobs?  I used to do those for years   ;D
The trouble with proper jobs is that all the income is tied up in one company's wellbeing.  That was OK until the early 90s when I had three redundancies in two years.  Turned out to be one of the better things that happened to me   :)

The back finally seems to be improving the last 24 hours.  I spent several days popping ibuprofen as sparingly as I could get away with.  My GF's young son takes great delight in tickling my feet when we play because he gets a reaction.  Trying to explain to a child not to do it because of my back wasn't easy LOL.
Hope you're enjoying the rest  :)

As yet im not behind and i am not moaning as yet either and as im new to the game i will be very annoyed if i cant at least TRY to get to my customers who are waiting, im still trying to get a name for myself as are other wc's on this forum so to say we are moaning every turn round is quite frankly rude and insensitive.  I will be out tomorrow as planned should my part arrive today and i can get some water into my tank before dark tonight.  Now please quit trying to stir things on this forum, the majority on this forum see things for what they are the rest dont and mess about all the time, if you are like this when you are working then God help you.  Rant over :)

I'm so sorry sweetheart

god help me,been out all day working 8-5 with no problems.

hey did windows get cleaned before wfp came on the sence.YES THEY DID.
theres enough info on this site to keep you working(ticking over) if you want.

ie heaters in vans

the list goes on.

You need to take the rough with the smooth. Put aside for the winter months and tax and don't touch it unless absolutely necessary.

Could be a lot worse if employed for someone else with uncertainty about your job, lousy boss, long, poor working hours, environment. That's why it's sensible to charge realistic prices and don't undercut other w/c's.

I'd rather be peed off with lousy weather for a couple of weeks or work part time hours (which I do) than work for someone else in a different job. I'm stuck in my job (flexible hours) because I have a severe illness so for me I have no choice, I have to put up with it and make the most of it. I might as well be happy and stay positive no matter how bad it gets weather wise as I don't have the choice, so count yourself lucky you have your health as I would swap it all and be skint and healthy anyday.

I was actually a bit dissapointed to find that it hadn't frozen here last night.
I had to go out and work, I finished at 2pm and it took me 2 hours to get home with the snow,.
Stopped off on the way back and bought a 37" Bravia from Comet.
So it looks like I will be watching telly tomorrow, between bouts of sledging with the kids, Now that I haven't done for over 30 years, and I am looking forward to it.
That has got to be more of a risk than ladders.

That's my plan.  I tried to buy a sledge in Chepstow today, couldn't find one anywhere, so it looks like its off to a nearby hill (a great big one) with a couple of empty thick plastic coal sacks!

Can't wait.  It's chucking down with snow as I type.  ;D
