Title: claiming for items without receipt
Post by: Ryan @ Transparent, Carlisle on January 03, 2010, 12:25:34 pm
Okay when i first started i bought second hand ladders.

a 4m double for      £30
7 rung A frame for  £40

i already had a titan trade 3m double at home

Now, i didnt get receipts for these ladders, can i still claim for them?

These ladders are coming to the end of their life anyway, not because their damaged (still safe & sound), but because they just look tatty & un-professional. And dont really give me a "clean" image.

Im off next week to buy myself a brand new pair of titan trade 4m doubles, and will be looking for a brand new 11 rung A frame soon

Really you shouldn't claim for anything without a receipt, however.................!

when I did the self assessment thing the tax adviser, said even if you don't get a receipt take a detailed note of when you got the item and how much it cost. the tax man just gets annoyed if you are trying it on. they tend to spot most of the made up claims.

print out a receipt for your own records

we are only talking 70 quid, its not going to make much of a difference to your tax bill
