Happy New Year Andrew,
I use George and tried the free wcp trail when it was first launched, transfered 3 out of my four weeks and lost interest with it
When Brad joined he emailed me and offered me anther free trail but ha also transfered all my George accounts into wcp as a usable format. I ran the two for a month and there was very little difference between the two, although there were two things that were only on George that was the reason i did not buy it
Brad and Ian have a customer service that seems to be as good as Gardiners but I felt I would be buying it for the sake of it
Hope this helps you a little
Lee

Thanks Lee.
That's a really great objective reply.
I just want to know what, if anything, is offered for the extra money.  It seems nothing so thanks again.

If you are planning to work as a sole trader then George wll probably do all you need and with excellent back up.  On the other hand, if you are already running a sizeable operation or have plans to, then WCP might be more comprehensive for your needs.  WCP also has excellent back up.

I have used George for a number of years and my accountant is very happy with the reports it produces for year end.  Recent upgrades have improved George greatly for my needs.

I have alos used the trial version of WCP and found it to be very professional but I don't see the need to spend out on it with the current size of my business.

Overall, I think you would be happy with either program.

Thanks John.

The only drawback I can see is that George cannot have its mobile version on Windows, only Palm.

Still, the extra cost for the WCP doesn't seem to be justified as I can buy an old Palm machine for less than the difference in price.

Thanks again

Andy

No need to get shirty lol.

I tried using George and inputing customers was a nightmare. I just find WCP alot more user freindly, ie when entering customers it auto complete street names etc where i found with George you had to write out each one indvidually. As mentioned support is great to, ian has spent any hours helping me out. And he would be there for you if needed. Im so much more organised now, i have all my custoemrs details at click of button, all my debts there where i can prit if needed. And one of the best things ive had a touch screen phone with windows mobile on it and it syncs wirelessly, click of a button my round for the day is on it, end of day sync it and click of button all my daily work is done and expenses etc.

All in all i love WCP, i dont know if it offers more than George as i didnt give it the chance i suppose. All im saying is i think its more beterer lol

i am using wcp now...i still have the trial version of george, its quite good but its a tad more complex than wcp...still good value at 50 quid though....however it does not have a facilty for the pda, it only works on portable pcs.....whatever they are......i cant really compare the two for value as they both have merits on the two scales...ie "cheaper and good and more expensive and good" (i made that last cliche up 8))......but i would say if you have the extra cash or can afford the monthly instaments of wcp then i would go with that simply for ease of use and the pda sync thingy.

george does work on a pda,has ive been using it on there for 2years.

on the pda when using george you also have all your debt list all the time.this you do not have on wcp.

debt list as been very handy for me when ive had people stop me in the street and wanting to pay.

until wcp has this feature then i for one wont be using it. :P

The debt thing is a big thing for me too I have been using Wcp & Geo side by side for over a year now and the lack of a debt list on Wcp is imo what is holding it back .. this feature has been promised for a very long time now but alas still not here  :-\

I'm astonished.  I would have thought that was a very basic thing.  My own reservations are mainly about an inability to export data as a .csv file.

no debt list on wcpro!not very pro then!i would think this would be a basic feature esp having to fork out the extra money!

IMO a simple straightforward program is all i need!why complicate things!and george is a lot cheaper! ;D ;D

There is a debt list on your main program which is easily printable and easy to add information, its not live on the pda windows mobile yet thats all.
