anyone know what the dilution should be for ipa and also what is the average price per litre

isoproponal its used as an antifreeze for wfp, sorry i thought most people new about it

Have heard of this before never tried it though, so keen to know more.  Looks like a good solution to stop the pipes freezing up.

Have head just a cup full for 400lts

Isopropyl alcohol dilution rate, would it not be dependant on the temperature?

yep as ian says 10% should cover most of us;   -4

just got some ipa yesterday £11 for a litre from maplins, be careful get the right stuff, give a call first as they sell as an aerosol also, you obviously want the liquid form.

i couldn't find it on there website but called them.

there are various suppliers on web i have used one £5.88 for 500ml delivered ordered monday as a backup if maplins were out.

is that right?

i thought 1 litre would be enough for 1000 litres.

do i need to go back to school  :'(

i'm confused over 10% i originally thought whatever your water is litres you use ipa in mililitres.

i.e 500 litres water needs 500mili-litres ipa

i'm confused.com ??? ???

From what I can gather, you need 10% at -4.
 So 500l would require 50l of ipa. 
  I stand corrected if wrong.

guys you will need 10 percnt min to keep working, that will price most of us out of the market, its about £40 per 25 litres so that will get you through one day maybe. is it worth it

Dont bother...it will evaporate....ok in closed system but once in the open air..it will evaporate just leaving the water on the glass...

Much hype about this product...

"milli" means 1000, "cent" means 100 so "10% (per cent)" means one tenth (or ten hundredths) so for every hundred litres you need 10 litres at 10 percent.  If it was 500 millilitres per 500 litres, that would be one percent

thats the idea, it evaporates when it hits the window, so leaving no residue to leave spots or runs, but it stops the water freezing in the hoses or tank, unless i am missing summat

The idea for most people is that the alcohol/water mix hits the glass an stops freezing...which if the acohol evaporates it defeats the point...fine for stopping van componants freezing.

I tried loads of mix %'s last year and found the above was true....I had a few houses that the mix's froze and I went back a few days later when the temps were higher and no sign of spots or high tds evidence...it was just that the mix froze as it was evaporating on the glass....this was a double glazed house..old house but new conversion.

Been using it last week would not have been able to work without ipa in the water,i put approx 1.5 litres in the 50l trolley bought my ipa of ebay about £30 for 20l with delivery charges.
