isnt the an old wives tale about putting a tennis ball in a pond and it stops it freezing, would this work on a tank
you would probably have to use polystyrene balls

It only stops the area beneath the tennis ball freezing, then you take it out to allow gases to escape

that solves it then ;D ::)

I would imagine it would freeze Gazza.
-
how do we go on then... am i the only one filling up tonight ? :(

I fill my tank from garden hose too but bring it inside overnight. I can defrost my system no probs each morning, it's just so cold throughout the day here though that like today, it doesn't even get above 0 degrees all day!!!! water freezing on glass & slip hazard are two big problems.

My tap is frozen so no can win.
-
my tap was frozen.... in the end i put a patio heater over the lot for an hour. ;D
-
well... the hose did not freeze... full tank now off i go... back soon...when its freezing on the glass.... hopefully sun will stay out with me ;D

You're lucky Gary, our mains pipes froze outside yesterday, so not had any water coming into the house for 36 hours.

:o, glad I do not live in your area, it must be well cold for that to freeze

if its already frozen go over the length with a few kettles, but to avoid that, after filling turn off the the tap, remove hozelock fitting both ends and pick up and walk length of pipe, lifting and dropping pipe, this pushes water down the length, and you can see it pouring out, go back opposite way doing the same, and back once more, until its empty, this takes 3mins, rather than 15mins the kettle way.
also bring in all you can from the van, reels etc and make sure the pipes are drained in van!

that night.. i was pouring hot kettle water on the hose ... and it froze straight away it was that cold.... eventually used the patio heater.
