Title: Aldi stores
Post by: danny mckim on December 21, 2009, 03:26:31 pm
Anybody lost any aldi stores in Scotland recently? My dad lost 2, was told one company is going to do them all. Done one of these for 13 years, 3 times a week and never missed a clean. Shows us loyalty only goes one way.

Do councils take the licsence seriously or have they "got better things to do"?

they take yer cash seriosuly. it's up to the localpolice to enforce it. However they have loads of other things to do also. i am losing work to the larger companies and so is her dad. It's getting beyond a joke now and yet feck all is getting done form what i see. These comapnies roll in too our small town tkaing all our work with no licence and then disappear again.

if a taxi wa soperating without a licence ye can bet the police would be interested big time but hey ho it's only a guy with a bucket

Theres no licences in Northumberland, and we still get them coming in and leaving, doing work we used to do. its competition and it always has been, doesnt matter what your occupation is.

when i saw thier pitch on dragons den, it was obvious on how they intended to operate.
hit hard and cheap, cut price on quotes, use cheap labour. do one good clean in six method.
the problem then becomes, no one can compete with them.
you cannot quote the same if you intend to clean 100% each visit.
so companies get a bench mark on how much they are willing to pay.
i know a pub chain that are unhappy with thier cleaners but they cannot get anyone to match the price they pay, so they keep the bad cleaners

i think they seriously take your money then have better things to do,  if the odd one slips throught what do they care, they still got the money off all the other lot

Certainly am, but just a trolley system with gardiners poles 17ft and brodex 31 ft........................ But thinking about it, even Alnwick may be too far, I did Safeway there when it was 1st built which is now Morrisons.  Did it twice a week (early mornings) but eventually ended up giving it away cos' i kept falling asleep on the A1.  :)

I wouldn't get worried about UK Commercial Cleaning Ltd ( Dragon's Den) Not only have they been trying to flog the business to all and sundry, they were doing it without letting DB know!

If you think about it Duncan Bannatyne has been really astute. For a £100k investment he has brought a lot of the cleaning of his own properties inhouse which will save him £100k over and over again in reduced cleaning bills.

Scotsman for you ;-)
