Title: RO freezing

why cant you thaw out a RO membrane and reuse , this is what a mate asked me today , i could not tell him why. does anyone know .

my system froze last year in my parents garage.

unhooked it and took indoors.

put back when defrosted; worked o.k

wouldn't want to make a habit of it.
