Title: Left on window tape
Post by: noelg22 on December 19, 2009, 01:53:26 am
Hi, I have a house i do monthly, it's a new house and the young couple ask me every single month for the past 6 months if i can find a chemical or anything to take tape of the frames of their windows.
Now there windows are wooden framed and the manufactures tape that comes to site is still on the frames and they hadn't removed the tape quick enough, the tape is now sort of burnt into the frames and I can't seem to think of anything that would take it off, simply taking the scraper to them won't work as they are wood and the tape seems to have etched into the grain of the wood! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as i really like these particular customers and told them I would try my best to get the tape of the frames! Thanks in advance!

WD40 is clever stuff, but I wouldn't like to get it on the frame because it'd end up on the glass too.

You could test a small area by giving it a spray with WD40, let it soak in, then try to remove it.

But I'm sure someone will be along shortly with a better suggestion.

use a wire brush charge the customer for time spent then give them a price for re-painting

I find cooking oil is very good for removing anything sticky, let it soak in then wipe off
