Title: Working In The Rain
Post by: Mr Bungalow on December 15, 2009, 10:01:01 am
Hello All,

I know this question has probably been asked many times on this site, but amuze me anyway as I am still new to this game.

I've just decided with the rain to go and collect monies owing to me anyway.

Does anyone on here really work in the rain?  If so, do you give a rain guarantee?

Thanks for helping.

Kind regards. :)

I bought a round (Matlock area) and this is the 4th clean I've done (monthly). They were all trad and I do them wfp. I don't clean in the rain as I don't want to upset anyone but today (foggy damp) I started out and 1 said no and another said "You're not doing them today are you?". So now I'm pee'd off and back home  :(

yup do it in the rain - only light rain thou - dont like getting too wet.

I always clean in the rain to stay on time.. if they dont want it done, it will be done next time, but its their choice. One area per day and i dont go back until its due again.

yes i do work in the rain!how can u NOT work in the rain sometimes?!!if its lashing dowm when i get up then no.but if its drizzle/light rain or even moderate rain when im out and it starts then ill finish a job off.if its stopping and starting ill usually carry on.if u stop every time it rains then u must have a v.small round and not be earning much!the wet weather we tend to get these days u have to!!i dont worry too much about the custys.most dont mind u cleaning if its been bad for a while.they know  we have to make a living!i know the ones that dont like it and ill do theirs another day!! ;).i would get too far behind with my work if i didnt work in bad weather sometimes!im working up to 4pm next wednesday then 11 days off!go back on the 4th jan 2010! ;D ;D ;D

Point no 1:  When you changed them over to WFP, did you give them a leaflet explaining the system?  If so did it include a rain guarantee?

Point 2:  In answer to the 'not today, thankyou' (especially when it's only foggy)  Tell them you need to keep working or you'll have to give it up because you can't earn a living sitting at home.  Then tell them the system works just as well in any weather conditions, but if they don't believe you then they can look when the windows have dried, and if they can see anything wrong with them they can phone you and you'll come straight back and do them again.

If they still refuse after that, tell them you won't be doing them anymore because a customer who won't have it done is worse than no customer at all.

Work in light rain, showers. If a custy gives us the "Not this time" or "You're not doing them in this are you?" just get replaced. Even if you explain, they stop listening after 30 seconds, so why waste time, just get 2 new custies.

Just got off the phone to a custy. She said your coming even if its raining. Told her I would and that if it rains and her windows weren't clean that I would make the 15 mile round trip to clean them free of charge.

I make a point of telling my custys I clean in the rain and that if they are not satisfied, that I will come out of my way to clean them free of charge.

I also tell them that if they are not clean to ring me, I don't bite, not even if you ask nicely... Always gets a laugh.

Hi Ian,

Thanks for this, I know I'm too soft with them. I did give them a leaflet but it didn't have a rain guarantee at the time.

Next time I'll explain to them how wfp works and offer a reclean.

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated.

Dave.

in my ten years of window cleaning i`ve only started working in the rain this last year. i got so far delayed that i could of started losing custys. now its a must for light rain and 90% of custys to my surpise dont mind, the ones that dont like it have to wait another month, if its raining next month they`re screwed. End of the day we have to keep a schedule
