here is the video, still a few alterations and I can change the voice to a male if I wish.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRlJVYv0zOU
-
Maybe it's me Mike but I cannot seem to get it to play???
-
try it now
-
Yes very good video.
Professional voice over. Was that the wife? Or did you pay for that to be done.
Are you going to embed that on your website.
Can you always tell the fibre of the carpet by just a burn test?
How will the client know if you are using only products that the manufactures recomend? What if there was a legal issue?

Dave
I just thought Mike had a high pitched voice - didnt want to say anything really. :D
Good video though.

Nope tried and it seems to upload but wont play. Have tried others and are all fine...very strange...

Try searching on youtube for it?
titled
Henry_Haliday How we clean carpets!
Dave
Actually ignore that as I have just tried it and it does not play! Plays from the link though Mike.
-
Works fine for me.
It was so good the missus has asked me to ask you if you would come and clean our carpets ;D
-
Works fine for me.
A really good video presented in a friendly way. Comes over as a soft sell. very Un-American ;)
If I was to nit pick, I'd agree with dave about manufacturers recommended......... Carpet manufacturers rarely approve any of our chems. Perhaps "Industry Approved" would be a safer turn of phrase?
Safe and happy cleaning :)
The Ken
PS Who did you give the spare finger to Mike ;)
-
listen carefully..... I say the exact type of cleaning agent.
I don't say they recommend an exact chemical only a type eg; woolsafe, low Ph, acid based etc
-
I liked the hoover scene best, :-[ :-[
-
Fair play Mike it's a good piece of marketing and that's it. As carpet cleaners we are going to pick holes in the 'technical' details, but it's a marketing video not a training video. It's aimed at potential customers as it should be.
Now you have to decide how you want to use it. If you want people in your 3 miles to find it via the search engines you will need to changes the titles and the tags and do all the things you would do for a website.
With a bit of luck you will get it on the first page of a google search with a thumbnail which immediately draws the eye whatever the position.
-
I like it but would suggest
1) at 2.02 minutes it looks like the paint is coming of the skirting
2) the guy in the yellow suit looks like a nuclear scientist
3) the sniff test looks dodgy
4) you should say more about the extraction stage and show the truckmount
5) what are you doing with the hoses
6) clean a cream dirty polyprop carpet to show better visual clean effect.
Whats with the zoo van pics?
Good idea and very well filmed. Was it professionally done?
Mark
-
if you look closley at the van its says Henry haliday and son.
So I am assuming that the business CC Van.
At least it gets them looking. Its not a usual picture of a baby.
Dave
-
It doesn't play for me, I get the circle in the middle going round and the download bar going across but nothing plays ???
-
i'd get rid of the yellow overalls, looks like he's about the clean the drains not the carpet,
colin ;)
-
I seen a "How clean is your house?" once and the C/C was wearing a pair of wellies and shorts.... ;D
It's a good video, very professional looking... At least the prospect can see what they're going to get for their money..... Result!
-
Mark thanks for the suggestions, So I should hire the film crew & hotel room again ( including getting the hotel to paint the skirting boards before hand ;) ;) )
the beginning photo is what we use on our leaflet so the technician in the yellow overalls look more in place. we use the picture at the start of the video to tie into our other marketing, same goes for the van its important it is shown as it is part of our marketing strategy.
-
Mike,
The guy stood next to you in the dayglow coat looks like he is linking arms with you, which makes it look like youv'e collected him from a care centre and your off on a shopping trip. Get him to stand away from you and lose that dayglow.
-
Works fine for me,
and I think it looks both professional and informs the custy exactly the lenghts you go to ,to achieve the best for them.
I did notice one thing missing though Mike, where is Mikes Pint ;) or has that problem been resolved now ?
Geoff.
ps We going out for a drink for xmas or what ?
-
Doesn't play for me either .
Download bar gets to end then nothing happens.
John
-
Mike,
One thing is very noticeable - You are looking a lot trimmer these days. :) but where's the tie?
Dave.
-
Hi Mike
Looks nice but my comment is much the same as it was for Steve's, I feel you miss the opportunity to really show the power of the truckmount and how it cuts through the dirt.
If I ever make one I will skip the boring bits like vaccing and just show me cleaning with really hot water and how the marks dissapear.
Cheers
Doug

Mike
I think it's excellent. If I was being picky I'd say you could have both worn the same gear, maybe a uniform, but that's not a huge deal.
Very professional looking video though, well done.

top class! - if I was a punter I would want u to clean my carpets - in fact when can u clean my carpets!!??
Well done! By the way what was the pile agitator u use?
please let me know.
neil

That is awesome!!! I need to create a video like that, could be a great sales tool!
Comes over as a soft sell. very Un-American ugggggg!!!
-
Well for some reason now I can view it whereas yesterday I couldn't. Anyway, great vid Mike... and I love the way you are sooooo careful with them hoses ;D.
Seriously tho it's very good. I like how the female voiceover does the commentary yet still allows you guys' voices to be just about heard in the backgroung discussing the job. Agree with Doug tho if u could've shown the TM blitzing a bit of manky carpet that would've been even better.
Neil, pile agitator is the Envirodri
-
Mike
As you know customers will pick on tiny silly things and the shot at that point shows the wand been moved past the skirting board and looks like the wand was marking the board. Make sence?
Mark
-
Another thumbs up from me.
In fact I might download it, put it on a hand-held media player and use it for quoting, I'll just say it's my Hull branch.
Only joking ;) ;D
-
Spot the deliberate mistake!!!
Spelling your web address wrong might mean all that beautiful work is for nothing!!!!!
-
well done jim, did not see that myself ;)
-
Most people will be watching it on the website and 60% of people google domain names so probably won't make any difference at all. ;)
-
Still won't play, downloads but doesn't play.
John

Still won't play, downloads but doesn't play.
It must be a problem with whatever media software you have on your pc.
Works for fine for me, and I'm impressed Mr H I like it. As mentioned it's not meant to be an NCCA training video but something that help potential customer to understand what is involved with carpet cleaning.
This is the sort of thing I'd expect Chemdry, OCS, Servicemaster etc to produce.
-
yeah cant be anything wrong with the video! its hosted on YouTube! with are hosted on Google servers for god sake! lol So defo a problem with the software on your computer.
Liked the video, only two things though. A shot of the truckmont would have been great. And the ladies voice..... not my cuppa tea. Do you have another womans voice you could use?
Tony
-
pre vec - anyone still do that ??
I thought now days we all just went in with the Blitz and sucked it up with crystal green .
thats what i do with no problems lol
need to get back on training - animals on van yellow suits , sniff the carpet softened water ...
good vid by the way :-)
-
Excellent video, the intro says "how will you clean our carpets?",that reads as though you are asking a customer how they are going to clean your carpets not how you are going to clean their carpets.
Should it not be "how we are going to clean your carpets?" :)
John
-
John if you listen to the girl she says "the question we get asked most is""how will you clean our carpets?",
so the sentence is correct when used in context with the girls voice
-
Mike we have discussed before on the forums that as a rule you don't usually vacuum but now you have shown them on a video that this is what you do!
Are you changing your procedures or are you hoping they just don't mention it?
Also how will this affect your ability to do 3 rooms in 1 hour for £99
Cheers Goron
-
Goron, were do I say I do 3 rooms for £99? or that I don't usually vacuum?
but this procedure is flexible, not all carpet need checking for colour fastness and not all carpets need vacuuming but this is something that can be discussed with the customer. this video is a just guideline we can also do things which are not mentioned eg specific stain removal or tabbing.
-
I was refering to a post maybe 3 - 4 months ago mike where i said it was not possible to clean three furnished rooms correctly as a one man band in and hour cos you said it would be easy to make £99 an hour doing a 3 for £99 offer. Sorry should have been more clear.
Cheers Goron
-
i think it's a great video, very professional clearly states what you do and why. it's brilliant.well done.
P.S i love your zoo picture, i think i's great idea and really makes you stand out.thats what makes you different and it's exactly what we all need in this industry.

Goron had a look but can't find the post but I agree that to do the full procedure I have shown in the video would make it impossible to do 3 rooms in an hour, but then I wouldn't charge £99 for it either.
but for the last 6 months I''ve worked as a 2 man team where we could have done this this in say a bedroom . HSL and living room in an hour. but again not for £99.
I don't think a customer would watch this video and expect the exact same procedure, we need to be flexible for each job EG; I say I rince with fresh softened water, but actually most jobs I acid rince. But If I explained why I do this instead of the freshwater the customer would be OK with it
if I just went in and blasted the carpet with double clean then they might say something
-
Plays ok today ???
Good quality video and will impress customers.
John
-
Sorry Mike,I should have been more attentive :-[
John
-
Can't seem to get a mail to Mikes email. Can anyone tell me what agitator he was using in the video? Thanks
-
That was one of the older models of the Envirodri.
They will do just as good a job as the new models, difficult to get hold of 2nd hand - worth their weight in gold - and they are heavy.
Host and Flexi 5, and I think Prochem do similar machines.
-
Thanks Joe
-
Suddenly...its playing ok! Very professional! Well done!
-
Because Im a lazy arse and cant be bothered to shoot a video of me cleaning a carpet are there any videos of "the advantages of using a truckmount machine" which could be embedded into my website without upsetting anybody?
Would like a short video with truckmount in action! Ideally a boxer 421

Go on youtube and search carpet cleaning truckmount 421 or something like that. You will see a video you like and on the right is some embed code. You then can take that and pop it on your website.
Out of courtesy you should write a short para giving attribution to the owner. They will get a backlink out of it also if you site is set up that way.
